Williamston man facing charges in assault and shots fired incident
Anthony D. Dean was arrested and charged with assault and felon in possession of firearms after officers investigated a shots fired incident in the vicinity of East Carolina Street last week.
According to Interim Police Chief Kevin Marsee, officers responded to East Carolina St. in reference to shots fired in the vicinity. During their investigation, officers learned that the shots were fired on Brown Street and that a suspect, Anthony Daquan Dean, 18 Brown St., had been involved in an altercation with another individual.
Marsee said the altercation involved an assault at the Williamston Curb Market on Greenville Drive and was caught on video which also showed Dean in possession of two firearms. The video showed Dean striking the victim from behind. After the incident, Dean went to 18
Brown Street and allegedly fired shots at the victim’s car. Marsee said evidence showed there was a possible exchange of gunfire.
A search warrant was obtained for 18 Brown Street and four firearms, including an AR15 style weapon was found, along with 97 pills believed to be ecstasy, an amount of crack cocaine and marijuana.
The incident remains under investigation and more charged are pending.
Chief Marsee said the Williamston Police Department is coordinating with the Justice Department to determine if there will be federal charges.
