Marsee sworn in as Chief of Police in Williamston

Williamston Mayor Rockey Burgess recently announced that Captain Kevin Marsee has been named Chief of Police for the Town of Williamston.

Former Police Captain and Interim Chief Kevin Marsee was officially sworn in as Williamston’s new Police Chief during the Town Council meeting Monday. Pictured are (l-r) Mayor Rockey Burgess, Chief Marsee and wife Maria Giraldo who assisted by holding the Bible.

Marsee has served as Interim Police Chief since former Chief Tony Taylor resigned.
Captain Marsee is a 38-year veteran of law enforcement and has an extensive background in criminal drug investigations, law enforcement training, and crime analysis with a history of moving agencies forward. Prior to his employment with the Town of Williamston, he served as former Special Operations Commander and Drug Enforcement Investigator for over 21 years with the Anderson City Police Department. Marsee has conducted numerous investigations working with the ATF, DEA, and FBI against armed criminal organizations. Additionally, he has developed and implemented strategies to reduce crime relating to gangs, guns, drugs, and fugitives. He was court certified as an expert witness in drug enforcement in 1995 and received certification as a Crime and Intelligence Analyst in 2002. Marsee also served as Special Deputy U.S. Marshal for Operation Intercept from 1994-2010 and served as a guest instructor for the Department of Homeland Security Federal Law Enforcement Training Center from 2009-2012. In 2010, he was assigned to develop the Anderson Police Department Training Division which was responsible for the basic and advanced training of over 150 personnel. Additionally, he was accepted as Senior Training Associate for International Police Training and Consulting Services in 2012 to support and strengthen international security and public safety organizations through the development and delivery of professional training. Marsee currently aids law enforcement agencies around the globe as a curriculum developer, analyst, and training associate. He maintains law enforcement instructorship through the SC Criminal Justice Academy and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He has faithfully served the residents of Williamston since 2013 as Administrative Captain.
As Police Chief, Captain Marsee will also serve as a member of the Town’s Executive Team reporting to the mayor and will participate in town-wide management efforts.

Chief Marsee said of his promotion – “I am truly thankful to the Mayor and Council for their trust and confidence in me for this appointment. As ambassadors to our community the Williamston Police Department will remain committed to working with the Mayor, Council, and all of our stakeholders to make Williamston a safe and secure place to live and to work.”
A Swearing-in Ceremony for Chief Marsee was held at the December 5th, 2022 in council chambers.
