Williamston Police Officers investigated the following incidents:
Dec. 5 – SavWay, 309 E. Main St., Williamston reported a fuel theft in which an unknown white female entered the store and requested the pumps be turned on to allow her to fill her vehicle with gas. The female, described as having dark brown hair and wearing a camouflage jacket, pumped $47.60 in gas into a dark gray four-door Toyota and fled in the direction of Pelzer. J. S. Grinnell investigated.
Dec. 5 – Amanda Luree Bagwell, 33, 1208 Dickens Ave., Williamston was arrested for simple assault after W. Crawford, J. Cobb and L. Mulz were dispatched to 1208 Dickens Ave. in reference to a 911 hang up. Upon arrival, officers met with Deborah Steadman, of the same address, who reported that her daughter A. Bagwell had assaulted her. According to reports, Steadman stated that Bagwell pushed her several times and officers found bruises and red markings on Steadman’s arms and chest. Bagwell stated that she and Steadman had gotten into a scuffle but she had no injuries. Bagwell sat down on a couch in the living room and Mulz advised her that she was going to be under arrest for assault and battery 3rd. degree. Bagwell stated she was hearing voices and then yelled that she was not going to jail. When officers stepped forward to stand her off the couch, Bagwell stood up and stepped onto the coffee table. She was then brought down by L. Mulz. Bagwell was placed under arrest for assault and transported to ACDC by officer Cobb. W. N. Crawford was reporting officer.
Dec. 4 – Officers W. Crawford and M. Jackson were dispatched to 111 W. Third St. in reference to a large white dog running loose. Rosie Castillo told officers that the dog ran into her yard multiple times and attempted to attack Castillo’s children, Castillo and her dog. Officers found the large dog at 115 W. Second St. in the front yard of the home. When the two officers approached the dog, the dog charged both officers, barking, growling and attempting to bite. Officers drew their duty weapons and were at high ready due to the dog attempting to attack both officers multiple times, but placed the weapons back at low ready when the dog retreated. The owners of the dog were not home at the time and were contacted by neighbors. The nephew of the dog owner arrived and put the dog back in the back yard. Officer Jackson spoke with the dog owner and advised that the kennel outside needed a lock on it so the dog would not continue to get out.
Dec. 2 – Jimmy Todd Ellison, 54, reported that a catalytic converter was removed from a 1989 F 350 Ford parked at Jimmy Ellison Towing/Service Center, 1200 Anderson Dr., Williamston. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,200. Lt. L. B. Culbertson investigated.
Dec. 1 – Officer W. Crawford and J. Grinnell were dispatched to 212 Broad St. in reference to a domestic incident. According to reports, Ashley Williams and Curtis Antonio stated that Williams ‘brother Aaron Holland had assaulted them both. Williams said that during a verbal disagreement about signing for a loan, Holland pushed her and they started fighting physically, with Holland striking Williams with a close fist and pushing her. When C. Antonio came outside, Holland told him that he wanted for fight him and struck Antonio. Holland then took a Samsung Galaxy phone from Antonio and a purse from William’s Honda Accord. The phone was valued at $400. The purse, valued at $250, contained a debit card, credit card, drivers license and social security card. Holland then got into his ford Focus and left the scene. Warrants were issued for assault and battery 3rd, auto break-in and petit larceny. The victims also requested Holland be placed on trespass notice. W. N. Crawford was reporting officer.
Nov. 30 – Officer R. C. Burgess was dispatched to 118 W. 3rd St. at 5:54 am in regards to a call for a possible domestic with weapons. According to reports, when officers arrived, Marvin Turner exited the house by the front door and was instructed to drop to his knees and keep his hands up. He was placed into investigative detention. Lawrence Turner then exited the home. After determining that there was no gun, M. Turner was released from investigative detention. M. Turner stated that there was a short argument with his brother and he had not assaulted him and there was no gun presented.
L. Turner stated that M. Turner “knocked me to the ground and put a gun to my stomach”. He stated that he received a scratch to his right knee.
A gun was found in the home in a protective holster, in a closed bag under a pile of neatly folded blankets. The local magistrate was contacted and conveyed information about the incident. A warrant was denied due to lack of witnesses and other contributing factors. L. Turner was transported by EMS for the small scratch to the right knee.
Nov. 30 – Officer J. M. Cobb and Crawford were dispatched to 118 W. 3rd St at 5 am where Lawerence Daniel Turner stated that a bottle of Klonopin was stolen from a basket in the kitchen.
Nov. 28 – Officer S. Wakefield responded to Tripp Street in reference to a hit and run involving a vehicle and personal property. Upon arrival , Rachel Freeman reported her mailbox and post had been knocked over and a city garbage can had been hit. The mailbox was approximately 10 yards from the original location and trash was scattered approximately 20 yards from her driveway, where the trash can was located. A large rock at the mailbox was also struck. Vehicle debris, which appeared to be part of the front passenger side wheel well and side panel and a red plastic piece were found in Freeman’s driveway. The vehicle was identified as possibly being a 2010-2017 Chevrolet Equinox.
Nov. 28 – Lillia Martinex reported clothes valued at $300 stolen from The Laundromat at 12 Greenville Dr. Reports state that two white males came to the business on a side by side ATV, entered the business and picked up her large black trash bag of clothes and left the store. The two males left in the direction of S. Hamilton St. D. R . Hart investigated.
Nov. 27 – Alexander Michael Wirth, 32, 1306 Big Creek Rd., Belton was issued a ticket for sign ordinance violation after Lt. L. B. Culbertson responded to a disturbance occurring at the Christmas Tree lighting at Town Hall.
Nov. 25 – Matthew Ryan Manley, 18, 130 Brookview Circle, Pelzer was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and unlawful carry of a pistol after a vehicle stop at the intersection of Bigby and Brown St. According to reports, while conducting a public safety checkpoint, a red Chevy Impala attempted to evade the checkpoint and turn down Tripp St. at a high rate of speed. ZJ. McCoy immediately caught up to the vehicle on Bigby St. A bookbag in the passenger seat contained a digital scale, individual baggies containing 55 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a gallon ziplock baggie containing approximately 70 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a clear jar containing THC Wax “dabs”. A Ruger 5-7 pistol containing 20 rounds was located under the drivers seat. The driver, Manley, did not have a concealed weapons permit. He was placed under arrest for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a schedule 1 narcotic, unlawful carry of a pistol and transported to ACDC. The vehicle was towed.
