Mary Cornelia Watkins Alexander, 75, widow of Elmer Riley Alexander, of Williamston, died June 22, 2008 at her home. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Erskine Casper Watkins and Mary Mosley Watson Watkins. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Mark Riley Alexander of Taylors; daughter, Kim Watkins Alexander of Pelzer; brother, Lester Watkins of Pelzer; and three grandchildren. Graveside services were held June 25 at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
Benjamin Ben Broadus Burgess, 74, widower of Mary Evon Burgess, of Piedmont, died June 21, 2008 at Regency Hospital. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Bertha Mae Davis Burgess and James Lawrence Burgess, Sr. He was retired from American Monorail. He is survived by a son, Benjamin Scott Burgess of Piedmont; daughters, Debra Kelley of Piedmont, Kathy Khezrnejat of Piedmont; two brothers, Ronald Ray Burgess of Simpsonville and Cecil Gary Burgess of Greenville. Surviving are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 24 at the chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Gladys Wilbanks Girardeau, 92, widow of Samuel Gilbert Girardeau, Sr., of Greenville, died June 20, 2008. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late May Seigler Wilbanks and William Jonah Wilbanks. She was retired from Gospel Hour and a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Samuel Gilbert Girardeau, Jr. of Berea, Franklin Marvin Girardeau of Greenville, Donald Buck Girardeau of Easley; daughters, Gladys Nell McMakin of Belton, Carol Elizabeth Morrow of Greer, Judy Kay Lancaster of Berea, and Sandra Eileen Clark of Laurens; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services were held June 23 at Woodlawns Remembrance Chapel. Ben Abrams, 82, of Pelzer, died June 21, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Abrams of the home; two sons, Geary Abrams of Ware Shoals, Aaron Abrams of Easley; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dot Mattison of Ware Shoals, Glenna Hammonds of Laurens, Helen Chastain and Martha Cox, both of Ware Shoals. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a teacher and coach at Ellen Woodside High School and at Woodmont High School. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church. Funeral services were held June 24 at the Family Life Center of Washington Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Ware Shoals. Thelma Jean Canup Copeland, 68, wife of Wade L. Copeland, of Williamston, died June 20, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of Hattie Crane Canup of Mauldin and the late Thurston Canup. She was a member of Williamston Church of God. She retired from Mt. Vernon Mill in Williamston. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are; daughter, Renee Copeland of Williamston; brother, Donnie Timms of Chandler, AZ; sister, Linda C. Watson of Mauldin; special friend of the home, Frances Thomas of Belton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Ronald Ronnie Vance Cooley, 52, husband of Dana Eileen Owens Cooley of Pelzer, died June 23, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Vance Grady and Jessie Davenport Cooley. He was employed by the Michelin US1 Plant in Greenville. He attended the Restoration Chapel Church of God of Prophecy in Williamston. In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his children, Jessica Ann Cooley and Michael Vance Cooley, both of the home; sisters, Sylvene Massey of Greenville and Linda Oliver of Piedmont; brothers, Grady J. Cooley, Edward J. Cooley, both of Easley, Leon J. Cooley and James M. Cooley, both of Pelzer. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
James Ray Bone, 62, of Pelzer died June 21, 2008 at Geenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Gainesville, GA, he was the son of the late Walter and Jessie Bell Bone. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a charter member of the former Liberty Baptist Church in Moonville. He retired from Kement, Inc. Surviving are his wife, Charlene C.T. Bone; daughter, Gina Brunson of Ridgeville; son, David Bone of Simpsonville; five sisters, Ann Stover, Madeline Akins, both of Gainesville, GA, Sara Grier of Lula, GA, Mira Eubanks of Greenville, and Winnie Gresham of Piedmont; three brothers, Grady Bone of Anderson, Thomas Bone of Goose Creek, and Robert Bone of Travelers Rest; and six grandchildren. Funeral service was held June 24 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Beverly Joan Greene Davis, 54, of Fountain Inn, died June 19, 2008 at her home. She was born in Piedmont, a daughter of the late John T. and Atha Mae Thomas Greene. She retired from Greenville Tech. Surviving are her husband, James Arthur Davis of the home; a son, Christopher Dwayne Atwood of the home; daughter, Renee Davis of Gaffney; brother, John Thomas Greene of Dacusville; sister, Cecelia Rogers of Seneca; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 22 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home in Easley. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Rose Lee Hartle Fusco, 80, of Piedmont, widow of Sal Fusco died June 21, 2008 at her home. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie Ann Frost Hartle. She was a retired LPN and a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Piedmont. Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Fusco of Piedmont and LeeAnn Gutierrez of Williamston; two sons, Jerry Fusco of Miami, FL and Sal Fusco, Jr. of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan Fusco of Easley and Edna Mae Muni of New Smyna, FL. Funeral Mass was held June 24 at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Burial followed in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
Jordan Christopher Trammell, 4, of Greenville, died June 17, 2008. Born in Greenville, he was a son of Michael Ray Webster and Virginia Leigh Trammell Webster. He and his parents were members of Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Alexis Nichole Trammell of the home; two brothers, Tanner and Cameron Webster of the home; grandparents, Linda Trammell of Easley; Pam and Keith Floyd of Piedmont; and great-grandmother, Margaret Treadway of Greenville. Funeral service was held June 21 at Berea First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Graceland Cemetery, West.
Gail Alley Sellers, 65, of Easley, died June 17, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Moncks Corner, she was a daughter of Helen Spearman Herring of Greenville and the late James Alley. She was a homemaker and a member of Connection Fellowship in Powdersville. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Duree Sellers of the home; a son, Dale Sellers of Pelzer; daughters, Kathie Suttles of Florence, Cheryl Brannon of Anderson; brothers, Jim Alley of Fountain Inn and Bobby Alley of Greenville; sisters, Karen Jackson of Gaffney and Beth Baker of Easley; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 21 at Siloam Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Parsons Pantry, P.O. Box 777, Gaffney, SC 29342.
David Stanley Hall, 44, of Easley, died June 17, 2008. Born in Pickens County, he was a son of Sarah Barksdale Hall of Easley and the late John Andrew Hall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving in addition to his mother is his son, David Ryan Hall of Easley; sisters, Sandra Durham of Mauldin, Shirley Bolden of Easley, Jadine Hall-Smith of Pelzer; brothers, Charles Hall of Belton, Ronald Hall of Piedmont and Donald Hall of Easley. Funeral service was held June 21 at Canaan Baptist Church. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Norman Paul Rice, 77, husband of Gwen Gilbert Rice, died June 16, 2008. Born in Jacksonville, FL, he was a son of the late Norman W. and Sarah M. Rentz Rice. He was former owner of Rice Insurance Agency. He was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brad Rice of Hollywood, FL and Jim Rice of Piedmont; one brother, George Rice of Chesapeake, VA; and three grandchildren. A celebration service in his memory was held June 23 at Mauldin United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Mauldin UMC, Attn: Building Fund. |
