Cyclist struck by car – Midway Road

A man was injured after the bike he was riding was struck by a car on Monday evening on Midway Road near Breazeale Road. Hopewell firefighters assisted Medshore Ambulance Service with patient care and also with traffic control. The man was taken to AnMed. The woman driving the car was arrested and taken in for suspicion of driving under the influence. State troopers are investigating the wreck. (Photo by David Rogers)


Driver injured – Five Forks Road Hopewell

Emergency landing – Near Midway Road

Truck wreck – I-85

A tractor tanker wrecked on I-85 at the Highway 81 northbound exit ram Monday night causing quite a mess. A car struck some debris from the wreck and broke an oil pan. Hopewell firefighters had to respond and place absorbent on the exit ramp and wash mud off the roadway. No one was injured in the mishap. (Photo by David Rogers)

Home heavily damaged by fire – Hwy. 81

Firefighters from Piercetown, Whitefield, Hopewell, and West Pelzer battle a fire on Highway 81 on Wednesday (Dec. 31) morning. The two story brick home located just north of I-85 was heavily damaged by the fire. At least one vehicle was also destroyed. Nearly forty firefighters fought the blaze and Williamston EMS stood by and provided rehab for the firefighters. (Photo by David Rogers)

Firefighters assist in shuttling water to AnMed

Williamston man injured in motorcycle accident

A Williamston businessman was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Saturday afternoon. According to reports, Frank Major was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Crestview Road when he collided with a Honda car at the intersection of Vandiver Road. He was taken by Medshore Ambulance Service to AnMed Health. Hopewell firefighters assisted ambulance workers at the scene. The accident is under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol. Tractor trailer catches fire on I-85

Firefighters from several area departments fought a tractor trailer fire Thursday night on I-85 at the Cherokee Road overpass. The 18 wheeler apparently blew a tire which caught on fire causing the truck to run off the roadway and strike the concrete bridge abutment.  The trailer and its contents also caught on fire.

fTwo people were rescued fromthe cab and taken to Greenville Memorial Medical Center by Williamston EMS. Piercetown, Hopewell Fire, Wren and Three and Twenty Fire Departments were dipatched to the accident. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. State inspectors also checked the bridge for safety.

Piercetown Response Truck rear-ended at I-85 accident

The Piercetown Fire Department Rescue 13 response truck was sturck by a vehicle while the department was working an accident on I-85 Wednesday evening. The Piercetown Fire Department and the SC Highway Patrol were dispatched to an accident near the 29 mile marker on I-85 at 9:35. Hopewell and Wren Fire Departments also responded.

While on the scene of the first accident, a red sport utility vehicle rearended the Piercetown rescue truck causing considerable damage to both vehicles. The sport utility was smoking as firefighters worked to extricate the occupants. Two people were injured, however details were not available at time of posting.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said one injured person was flown and another transported by EMS to Greenville Memorial Hospital, but there were not fatalities. The accidents blocked both laned of I-85 north for approximately two hours.

Look for hot spots – Shackleburg Road

Firefighters look for hot spots following a mobile home fire on Shackleburg Road Monday night. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters from Piercetown and Hopewell, but not before the home was moderately damaged by the blaze.
