Programs offered to help start a new business

The Town of Williamston through Envision Williamston currently has two grant programs available designed to help local businesses or to start a new business in Williamston.
Envision Williamston is currently taking applications for Facade Improvement Grants and a Main Street Challenge.

Palmetto Business Association hears building trends for area

Toast and TopicsBy David Meade – Members of the Palmetto Business Association met Tuesday morning for the first Toast and Topics breakfast held at the Williamston Municipal Center.
Mill Town Place, a new restaurant that has opened in the former location of Boots & Thelmas in West Pelzer, sponsored the event and provided breakfast.

PBA Toast and Topics event February 21

The Palmetto Business Association (PBA) will host the first Toast and Topics event on February 21st at 8 am at Williamston Town Hall.
Barret Foust, President and Owner of Goodwin Foust Custom Homes, will give a presentation on the State of South Carolina Real Estate, addressing future growth patterns, needs for infrastructure, and what to expect over the next decade in real estate trends.

Palmetto Business Association to meet January 17

All area businesses invited

The Palmetto Business Association (PBA) will start off the new year with a regular membership luncheon meeting on January 17, 2017 at 12 noon at Williamston Town Hall. There is no charge for this meeting and all business owners, regardless of previous membership standing, are encouraged to attend to learn of the new opportunities that the PBA will offer this year.

Incoming PBA President Blake Sanders said, “The Pametto Business Association is eager to build on the successes of our local business partners and past events. The New Year brings new opportunities for encouragement and engagement within our organization. With a renewed vision of “Building Communities,” the PBA hopes that you’ll choose to be engaged in the many occasions for networking, volunteering, and marketing.”

The Palmetto Business Association (former GWBA) will hold their next Party in the Park event on Saturday, July 30. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature music by T. J. Lazer and the New Detroits and the TKO Band.

PBA makes presentation to ACTC

Palmetto Business Association (PBA) President Mike Simpson presented a check for $500 to the Anderson Districts One and Two Career and Technology Center Digital Art Design program. The presentation was made during the awards and graduation recognition program held for seniors last week at the Civic Center of Anderson. The PBA made the donation to the program to help students as the result of their design efforts in designing the new Palmetto Business Association logo.

Sporting Clay Shooting Tournament this Friday

The Palmetto Business Association (former Greater Williamston Business Association) is sponsoring a sporting clay shooting tournament this Friday, Apr. 22, at the Belton Gun Club. Organizers are still accepting teams for the event. Entry fee of $80 per person/$320 for four person team includes clay targets, ammo and prizes for winners.

Prizes include: First Place teams will win $400 cash. First Place top scorer will win a Yeti cooler. First runner-up will win gift certificates to Foothills Pawn and Ace Hardware. Second runner-up will win four Yeti Ramblers.

Business Association now using new name

The Greater Williamston Business Association is now officially known as the Palmetto Business Association (PBA). During their monthly meeting Tuesday, members of the newly renamed organization chose a logo designed by students at the Career and Technology Center to reflect the new name. The winning logos were designed by CTC students (l-r) Emily Mitchell (BHP), Rachel Melton (Wren High) and Brooke McKinney (Wren High). The students are in the Digital Art & Design program under Danita Swaney at the Career and Technology Center.

The new logo features a Palmetto Tree in the Palmetto portion of the organization’s name and contiues to use colors similar to those used in the past. The new logo will begin to be used on all promotional materials and the organization’s new website which is currently under construction.
