Single vehicle accident – Smoak Road

Two people escaped serious injury Saturday night in a single vehicle accident. It happened on Smoak Road near Circle Road in Powdersville. The vehicle ran off the roadway and into a ditch. US Marshal motorcade escort

A motorcade of law enforcement officers escorted the body of Patrick Carothers, the US Marshal, who was killed the week before Thanksgiving, through Anderson County Sunday afternoon. Carothers was killed in Georgia while trying to arrest a man wanted for trying to kill police officers. Powdersville firefighters flew the US flag from their ladder truck from atop the SC 153 bridge over I-85 as they passed under. Carothers, a twenty-six year law enforcement veteran was buried Tuesday in a Virginia town where he attended high school. (Photo by David Rogers)

Fatal bike accident – Powdersville

State troopers examine a bicycle that was struck by a car on Saturday night in Powdersville. The bicyclist, fifty year old John Jeffrey Abbott of Piedmont died after his bike was struck from the rear by a vehicle on SC 81 north of SC 153. SC 81 was closed for about to hours as authorities investigated the accident. Pelzer EMS, Powdersville firefighters, and Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman responded to the call. Fire Departments offer relief to Townville

Multiple Anderson and Oconee fire departments stand by at the Townville fire department Sunday. Many fire departments including Powdersville has pitched in to offer relief to the Townville firefighters who have been heavily involved with the community since the shooting at the local elementary school. Powdersville accident

Powdersville firefighters along with Pelzer EMS personnel work at the scene of an accident on Saturday afternoon. A pickup truck ran off I-85 south, knocked down a large highway sign before crashing through a fence. No injuries when motorcycle, car collide – Hwy. 81

Powdersville firefighters await a trooper at the scene of an accident on Highway 81 in front of their station Tuesday night. A motorcycle and car collided at the intersection of Circle Road. Neither driver was injured. Firefighters controlled a small gasoline leak from the motorcycle. Highway 81 was closed and traffic detoured for about thirty minutes. (Photo by David Rogers)

Fatal motorcycle accident – Cely Lane

Two vehicle accident

One person was injured Wednesday afternoon in a two vehicle accident in Powdersville. A pickup truck and car collided at the intersection of SC 153 and River Road. The pickup truck overturned, ejecting the driver. The driver was rushed to Greenville Memorial Hospital by Pelzer EMS. Powdersville firefighters assisted EMS with patient care and traffic control. A dog in the pickup truck was not ejected but was shaken on the wreck. Firefighters comforted the dog until someone arrived to care for it. (Photo by David Rogers)
