Piedmont Public Service Commission Chairman Ed Poore was released from the hospital Tuesday, a week after undergoing open heart surgery. Poore underwent two bypasses and a valve replacement.
Speaking to The Journal from his hospital room, Poore said, “It turns out once they got a good look, I was in worse shape than they thought I was. But I’m sitting here now waiting on them to bring me all my prescriptions so I can get out of here. I’m ready to get home.”
Poore, who has about two weeks to recover before the next commission meeting, said that news of the O’Reilly Auto Parts store coming to Piedmont was welcome. “It’s good to see a sign of growth following so closely on the heels of the new sewer system project.”
