JAMES H. CAMPBELL
James Harold Campbell, 93, of Williamston, husband of the late Katie Rogers Campbell died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Anderson Place, Anderson.
Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Leroy Welborn and Caroline Owen Campbell, he was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, of World War II, and retired from the Air National Guard.
He owned and operated a 600 acre farm in Anderson County for many years. In 1952, he was elected to the Control Board of Directors of Farmers Cooperative Exchange of Raleigh, NC where he served a three-year term as Chairman of the Board and President. He served on this board for 38 years until his retirement.
He was named Co-op Man of the Year by the South Carolina Council of Co-op’s in 1969 and was named Distinguished Agriculturalist by the same organization in 1984. He was a member of the Pendleton Farmers Society and former director of the Farm Bureau of Anderson County.
He was appointed acting postmaster in Williamston in 1964 and continued to work in the postal service until he retired. During this time, he was a Member and Director of the National League of Postmasters, (S.C. branch), and was also a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the U.S.A.
He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Graveside services were 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

AGNES C. HOOPER
Agnes C. Hooper, 92, of Piedmont, widow of William Eugene Hooper, died Monday, January 30, 2012.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Kate Davis Tollison.
She was a member of West Greenville Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Charles Hooper and Tommy Hooper; eight-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 1 in the Northwest chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Graceland West Cemetery.

STEVE DAVIS
Steven L. Davis, 60, of Williamston, husband of Janice King Davis, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at his home.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of Thelma Jane Darby Davis and the late Alvin C. Davis.   He was former owner of Davis Machinery.
Surviving are his wife of the home; sons, Alan Wayne Davis of Williamston, Joshua Steven Davis of Pelzer; his mother of Belton; brothers, Alvin Lynn Davis of Simpsonville, Bobby Ray Davis of Belton; sisters, Libby Brown of Belton, Cathy Davis of Pelzer, Mary Haynes of Williamston.
Funeral services were held  Wednesday, February 1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
The family is at the home.

JOANN E. KARR
Joann Esuary Karr, 72, of Liberty and widow of Joe Donald Karr, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of Ruby Christine Leopard Esuary of Pickens and the late Fred Esuary. She was retired from Pratt-Reed Company in Central and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons Mark Karr of Liberty and Christopher  Karr of West Pelzer; daughter Cynthia Turner of Liberty; brother Sammy Esuary of Pickens; and sister Mary Crenshaw of Pickens; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Smith Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in Pickens View Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Pickens.
The family is at the home of Cynthia Turner, 127 Southside Drive, Liberty.

AGNES BURRELL
PIEDMONT – Agnes Christine Barbery Burrell, 79, of 222 Park Row, widow of Charles Robert Burrell, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Willie “Bill” Sea and Dosie Pulley Barbery.  She retired from J. P. Stevens, Estes Plant, and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Wanda McKee Williams (Ronald), of Dacusville; son, Robert Keith Burrell (Judy), of Pelzer; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Visitation was held 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at the funeral home chapel with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the residence.

JAMES L. LIGON
James Lyle “Jim” Ligon, 88, formerly of Pelzer, widower of Evelyn Lake Ligon, died, Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late James O. and Laura Elizabeth Frazier Ligon.  He was a WWII USMC Veteran and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.  He retired from West County Supply, Florida.
Surviving are his son Ronald T. Ligon of Kingsport, TN; daughter Diane L. Chapman of Anderson; and two grandchildren.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Whitefield Baptist Church.  Entombment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

PAT REEVES
Patricia “Pat” Ann Gambrell Reeves, 75, of Piedmont, wife of John Bennett Reeves, Jr., died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Alton and Anna Bell Barnett Gambrell.  She was retired from Estes Piedmont plant and a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of the home; son, David A. Reeves of Piedmont; sisters, Joyce Crews of Piercetown and Linda Adams of California; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services were held January 27 at Piedmont Heights Baptist Church.

ALICE WILLIAMS
Alice Williams, 71,of Williamston, died on Sat., Jan. 28, 2012. Funeral arrangements will be announced by THE UNITY MORTUARY OF WILLIAMSTON. The family is at the home.

JOYLYN E. CARTER
Joylyn Carter of Piedmont, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of George and Margie Poole Smith.
She was a secretary with St. Francis Hospital and was formerly married to Willie James Carter.
Surviving in addition to her parents are: children, Willie James Poole, Jr., Courtney Carter, and Joshua Carter, all of Greenville; siblings, John A. Poole of Greenville, George H. Smith, Jr. of Piedmont, Joyce Rabb of Greenville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Queen Street Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
