TOMMY” GARRETT, SHIRLEY McCLELLAN, ALICE ‘TOOTSIE’ DILL, EDNA ELLENBURG, DEAN HORNE, JOHN C. CAMPBELL, GLADYS WILLIAMS, RICKI RIDDLE, JOHNNY RAY PARTAIN, JAIME BROTHERTON, JOHN W. SHAMEL, ERNEST ROPER, GINGER LUCILLE HUFF, THOMAS ELY, VIRGINIA LELL LEWIS TOMMY” GARRETT
Thomas “Tommy” Leon Garrett, 64, of Pelzer, husband of Judy Wallace Garrett, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Leila Burns Garrett.  He was formerly employed with WR Grace-Cryovac and a member of Eastview Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of the home; sons, Chris Garrett and Michael Garrett, both of Pelzer; five grandchildren.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
Visitation was held Friday, February 10 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Memorial services were held Saturday, February 11 at Eastview Baptist Church.

SHIRLEY McCLELLAN
Shirley Ann King McClellan, 70, of Pelzer, wife of Lewis Preston McClellan, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at MUSC in Charleston.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John Lewis and Agnes Victoria Lollis King.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Ware Place Church of God, and a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband of the home; daughters, Rhonda Sims of Piedmont, Victoria Bayne of Fountain Inn; son, Ray Spearman of Pelzer; sister, Betty Chandler of Pelzer; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, February 12 at the Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ALICE ‘TOOTSIE’ DILL
Alice K. “Tootsie” DeLapp Dill, of Liberty, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the home of her daughter.
Born in Reidsville, NC, a daughter of the late Royal Stokes and Martha Anne DeLancy Delapp, she retired as an insurance clerk from Grove Medical and was a member of Slab Town Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Clifford Dill of the home; three sons, John Allen Kenny IV of Greenville, NC, James Michael Kenny of Candler, NC, and Robert Kyle Kenny of Liberty; three daughters, Royal Davis of Piedmont, Hope Harrison of Nashville, TN and Diane Bethea of Charleston; sister, Eddie Cora Sizemore; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.

EDNA ELLENBURG
Edna Mae Mattison Boyce Ellenburg, 93, formerly of Williamston, widow of James Otis Ellenburg, died Friday, February 10, 2012.
She was twice married, first to the late Melvin C. Boyce.
Born in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late Barnie W. and Maggie Lee Ballard Mattison.   She was retired from the Kendall Company.
Surviving are son, Gene Boyce of Pelzer; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and half-sister Edna Estell Henderson of Williamston.
Graveside services were held Monday, February 13, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
The family received friends following the service.

DEAN HORNE
WILLIAMSTON—Oscar Dean Horne, 77, of 1209 Dickens Avenue, husband of Janice Bracken Horne, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at AnMed Health.
Born in Williamston, SC, he was a son of the late O.J. and Virginia Jones Horne.  A veteran of the SC National Guard, he was also a retired detective from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.  He worked security at the Jockey Lot and Kmart.  Dean was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, a Mason, a Shriner, and an avid Palmetto High School sports and Clemson football fan.
He is survived by his wife of the home; sons Sammy Horne, Sr. and Neil Horne, both of Williamston; brothers Jimmy Horne of Williamston, Steve Horne of Greenville, and Larry Horne of Greenville; sisters Mary Higginbotham and Jackie Higginbotham, both of Williamston; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Funeral services were Monday 3:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary Chapel with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JOHN C. CAMPBELL
John C. Campbell, 85, died February 9, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Tyra M. and Winnie Couch Campbell. He was married to the late Emma Jean Wagner Campbell.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from Anderson County. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Stewart B. Campbell of Anderson and Robert B. Campbell of Piedmont; and a sister, Carol Parton of Greer.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 12 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

GLADYS WILLIAMS
Gladys Durham Williams, 89, of Liberty, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at her home.
Born in Six Mile, she was the widow of John Henry Williams and daughter of the late Cain and Mae Turner Durham.
She was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Swilling of Pelzer; three sons, Gary, Mike, and Steve Williams, all of Liberty; two sisters, Lourue Hudson and Mildred Childress; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at West End Baptist Church. Burial followed in Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

RICKI RIDDLE
Ricki Worth Riddle, 58, of Pelzer, wife of Tony Michael Riddle, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Barbara Godfrey Worth Friddle and the late Mark Samuel Worth.
She was a homemaker and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of the home; mother and step-father, Albert G. Friddle of Greenville; sons, John Jason Riddle of Pelzer, Justin Michael Riddle of Williamston; mother-in-law, Juanita L. Riddle of Pelzer; sister, Jennean Worth Garmon of Easley; brother, John Bruce Worth of Greenville; grandmother, Goldie Godfrey of Greenville; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Feb. 12 at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.

JOHNNY RAY PARTAIN
Johnny Ray Partain, Sr., 66, of Anderson, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.
He was born to the late Harold Partain and the late Jessie Bowen Partain. He was self-employed.
He is survived by a son, Johnny Ray Partain Jr. of Hartwell, GA, and a daughter Tonya Partain Jones of Franklin County, GA; a sister, Oleen Partain Bowen of Williamston; and a brother, Olin D. Partain of Hartwell, GA; and three grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Monday, February 12 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JAIME BROTHERTON
Jaime Marie Brotherton, 29, of Williamston, died Friday, February 10, 2012.
Born in Ft. Worth, TX, she was the daughter of Jerry Thomas and Phyllis Marie Westerman Brotherton of Springtown, TX. She was employed with Ingles.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Whitefield Baptist Church.

JOHN W. SHAMEL
John William Shamel, 76, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Tobaccoville, NC, son of the late Fred and Myrtle Moore Shamel.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the restaurant and food service industries. He was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Shamel, of the home; two daughters, Deana Davenport of LaGrange, GA and Amanda Dutton of Piedmont; and four grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Private burial followed at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

ERNEST ROPER
PELZER – Evoner Ernest Roper, 97, formerly of New Haven, CT, widower of Freddie Mae Barnette Roper, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Frank David and Thursey Miriah Ferguson Roper.  He was retired from Safety Electrical in Hamden, CT and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Liberty.  Mr. Roper was also an avid beekeeper and loved his canine companions past and present.
Surviving are daughter, Cindy Ballard (Dave) of Pelzer; son, Ken Roper (Patti) of Pendleton; daughter-in-law, Judy Roper of Pelzer; brother, Roy Roper of Guilford, CT; grandchildren, Carol Attaway, Scott Roper and his wife, Missy, Hannah and Olivia Ballard; great grandchildren, Bryant Attaway, Tyler and Amanda Roper.
He was predeceased by a son, Bud Roper.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 10-11 am at Calvary Baptist Church (Hwy 178 & Hwy 88) in Liberty with funeral services to follow at 11am at the church with Rev. Larry Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

GINGER LUCILLE HUFF
Ginger Lucille Huff, 55, of Easley, wife of Jimmy Aaron Huff, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at her home.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Bolding and Mary Lucille Brewer Lagares.
She was an LPN with Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Kevin Todd Clarke of Easley; one step-son, Aaron Huff of Greenville; one brother, Bobby Bolding of Williamston; and sister, Loraine Bolding of Greenville.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, February 15 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery West.

THOMAS ELY
Thomas Edwin Ely, 55, of Piedmont, widower of Kathy Garren Ely, died Monday, February 13, 2012.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of James “Jim” Edward Ely and Frances Hammett Ely.
Surviving are his parents of Piedmont; son, Eric Ely; brother, Tim Ely; sisters, Pattie Pressley, Cindy Ely; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services will be held 4 pm Friday, February 17, 2012 in the funeral home chapel.
The family members are at their respective homes.

VIRGINIA LELL LEWIS
Virginia Lell Lewis, 72, of Anderson, widow of Richard Franklin Lewis Sr., died Sunday, February 12, 2012.
She was born in Clinton to the late Virgil J. Lell and Lissie Dover Bullman.
She is survived by seven children, Debra Roberts of Piedmont, Patricia Lell of Anderson, Louise Lewis of Whitmire, Danny Lewis of Piedmont, Daniel Lewis of Iva, Vince Lell of Florence and Havert Young of Clinton; four sisters, Elizabeth Ann Boggs of Princeton; Gail Chestain and Faye Baker both of Greenville and Pearl Holmes of Clinton; two brothers,, Tommy Holmes of Laurens and Virgil Eugene Lee of Hickory Tavern; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton.
