Upstate Cheer Academy will offer cheer classes in Williamston beginning April 14. Classes will be available for future middle and high school cheerleaders or those who just love to cheer and dance, said cheer coach Sheri Alexander.
Classes are available for girls ages 5 to 11 and will be offered on Saturday mornings at the former Curves location, now Chad Allen’s Fight Club gym. Additional days will be available as demand requires, Alexanders said.
Signup will begin this Saturday, Mar. 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the gym. Addiitional sign-ups will be held Mar. 17, 24 and 31.
Instructors for Upstate Cheer Academy are Sheri and Kati Alexander.
Sheri is a former cheer coach of 20 years and has coached both Wren and Palmetto High School cheer teams to state championships . She was named the SC cheer coach of the year in 2005. She was also the previous owner of Cheer Academy All Star gym in the 1990s. Alexander said she has taken the past four years off to be a cheer mom and is ready to pursue her passion again. He daughter Kati, is a former Palmetto High cheerleaer and captain and was named all region this past year. She has cheered for more than 12 years, including all-star teams and high school teams.
