Fork Shoals Elementary School is currently accepting Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s soup labels, and old ink cartridges. These collections are exchanged for funds that support various programs at the school. Donation boxes are in the school bell tower.

Congratulations to Mr. Matt Critell, kindergarten teacher, for being selected as a top ten finalist for Greenville County Teacher of the Year!

Thursday, April 26th, is Night Out at P. Simpson’s. Dine at P. Simpson’s in Simpsonville, mention Fork Shoals, and a portion of your bill will be donated to the school.

Congratulations to this week’s “Super Bloggers”—Suleen Sindi, Julia Morosey, Kayle Tinsley, Amelia Jackson, Angelina Harley, Aniston Kiser, Mylah Buenafe, and Elyzabeth Cotto. Congratulations also go out to 3rd grade student Miriam Muriithi for having her book review of Patricia Polacco’s The Junkyard Wonders published to the library blog. These classes are leading the school in Accelerated Reader point totals (as of Monday morning, April 23rd): Garren – 1186.5 points; Fulcher – 1089.1 points; Marchbanks – 773.6 points; McDowell – 704.3 points; and Johnson – 617.7 points. The class with the most points at the end of the year will receive a popcorn party from Ms. Knight.

Fork Shoals will be hosting the 12th Annual Antique Tractor and Talent Show on Saturday, April 28th. The event is free to all and will include a school talent show, Grandpa’s Farm, the children’s pedal tractor pull, a tractor slow race, the parade of power, a blood drive, SIC clothes swap, and on-site food vendors. The festivities begin at 7am. Come out and join us in the fun!

Coming up – 4th quarter progress reports will be distributed on April 30th.

Thursday, May 3rd, will be Skate Night at Golden Skate, 5-7pm.

The PTA meeting and Spring Concert will be Monday, May 7th, at 6:30pm.

Tuesday, May 8th, is Chick-Fil-A Night Out. Eat at Chick-Fil-A on Fairview Road in Simpsonville, mention Fork Shoals, and a portion of your bill will be donated to the school.

Another Book Fair is on the way! For the first time ever, the Fork Shoals Library will have a third Book Fair this year! This May Book Fair will be used to support, promote, and kick off our Summer Reading Challenge. The Book Fair will be during the week of May 14-18 (the same week as field day activities). It will be open Monday-Thursday, 8am-3pm, and Friday, 8-11am.
