The Boys Home of the South recently held their 12th annual Spring Soiree. The event was orchestrated by the HUGS (Helping Us Grow Sons) committee. The hard work and dedication of this group shattered the old record by raising $173,630 for the Boys Home, proving they were true to this years theme of being “All Aboard”!

Nathan Brown, a Boys Home alumni served as one of the guest speakers and shared how his time as a Boys Home boy inspired him to go on to get his doctorate degree. Chuck Hinton of Ethox Chemicals told how sponsoring one of the boys and training him to work in their plant has transformed their whole organization into becoming more like a family. Jane Robelot was our mistress of ceremonies.

Both corporate and individual sponsors make this event a success. The Boys Home of the South was founded in 1958, and is located on 127 acres in Greenville County. The Boys Home campus consists of five cottages, the CARE facility, a chapel, a challenge-based therapy program, a gymnasium, and two fishing ponds. The children we serve are ages 6-21 years old and they have been severely abused, neglected, abandoned or orphaned.
