ELMER MITCHELL
William Elmer Mitchell, 94, of Piedmont, widower of Louise Knight Mitchell, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his home.
Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late David Ernest and Texie Cinderella Williams Mitchell.  He was retired from J.P. Stevens Estes Plant, a member of Piedmont United Methodist Church, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was twice married, first to the late Beulah Pearl Green Mitchell.
Surviving are son, William Stanley Mitchell of Piedmont; brother, John Rudolph Mitchell of Piedmont; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 20 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary.

JOHN GORDON ‘COOT’ PEARSON, SR.
John Gordon “Coot” Pearson, Sr., 89, of Pelzer, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Diamond Health and Rehab in Simpsonville.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Broadus and Annie Coker Pearson.  He was retired from Steel Heddle and a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, John Gordon Pearson, Jr. of Easley; sister, Sara Pearson Banks of Greenville; six grandchildren; one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary.  Burial was in Reedy Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Sandy Springs Baptist Church, 100 Snow Road, Pelzer.

TILLMAN OWENS
Tillman J. Owens widower of the late Bestie Beatrice Williams Owens, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Hosanna Nursing home, Piedmont.
He was born in Anderson County to the late John and Eula Mattison Owens.
Surviving are daughter Shirley Owens of Seneca; four sons, Roger of Williamston, David Earl of the home, Ray Tillman Owens and William Mills Owens of Simpsonville; two sisters, Celia Chapman of Greenville and Evilena Horton of Williamston; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday, May 17 at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.

RUTH KIMBLE
Ruth Ardeen Keck Kimble, 87, of Anderson, widow of Carl Edward Kimble, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at NHC Health Care in Anderson.
Born in Valencia, California, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Daniel and Christiana Huber Keck.  She was a retired registered nurse.
Surviving are daughters, Cathy Crabbe of Fayetteville, GA, Terry Foster  of Anderson, Karla Stringer of Anderson; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
Cryptside services were held Monday, May 21 at Oak Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

ROHAMA MESSER
Rohama Jean Martin Messer, 54, of Easley, died at her home on Friday, May 18, 2012.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Farrell and Barbara Martin.  She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by son, Corey Joyce of Orlando, FL; daughter, Heather Peters of the home; brothers, Buddy Martin, Jr. of Jacksonville, NC, and Tommy Martin of Easley; sisters, Teresa Rodgers of Acworth, GA, Farah Arie of Greenville; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her birth mother, Lana Chapman Martin.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DEBORAH MANSELL CHAPPELLE
Deborah Mansell Chappelle, 57, of Greenville, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Margie A. Whiteside Mansell of Greenville and the late Rev. C.E. Mansell.
Surviving in addition to her mother is her husband, Barry Chappelle; daughters, Ericka Earl of Piedmont and Carmen Blandin of Greer; son, James H. Earl, Jr. of Greenville; brothers, Gary Steven Mansell, Sr. of Greer and Eric F.E. Mansell of Greenville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods with a private burial.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Travelers Rest.

CLIFFORD F. NORMAN
Clifford F. Norman, 88, died at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
He was born in Queens, NY  to Harold and Augusta Norman.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea.
He was predeceased by his  father Harold, and mother, Augusta Jiannalone; and first wife, Carolyn.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Piedmont; sons, Fred of Mary Esther, FL and Ted of Apolla Beach, FL; and four granddaughters. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd, 1601 North Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, after May 28.

FRED GLENN
William Frederick “Fred” Glenn, 84, of Piedmont, widower of Barbara Pressley Cowart Glenn, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Milton and Nellie Mae Davis Glenn.  He was retired from the Greenville County Department of Solid Waste and the Piedmont Fire Department.  He was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are special friends and caretakers, Shirley Smith,  April Lindsey and her son, Hayes of the home; two brothers, Jerry Glenn of Piedmont, Jimmy Glenn of Greer; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 23 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

RONALD MILLER
Ronald A. Miller, 78, of Anderson, died May 19, 2012 at Clemson Downs in Clemson.
He was born in Cincinnati, OH and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He retired as a newspaper publisher.
He is survived by his wife, Marie A. Miller; three children, Terry M. Houchin of Corpus Christi, TX, R. Brad Miller of Katy, TX and Robert D. Miller of Piedmont; a brother, Stanley Miller of Lago Vista, TX; and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Clara P. Miller.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

TAMMY HARMON ANTHONY
PIEDMONT – Tammy Harmon Anthony, 47, of 330 Trotter Road, lost her short but courageous battle with colon/liver cancer on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
Tammy, as she was known to friends, was the youngest daughter of Jim and Shirley Harmon, of Pelzer, and the daughter-in-law of Earlene Anthony and the late Don Anthony, Sr., of Piedmont.  She was an underwriter for Smart Choice Insurance Agency and was a member of Marathon Church in Powdersville.  Tammy loved life and her family and held a deep devotion to God.
In addition to her parents and her mother-in-law, she leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Don Anthony, a son, Benjamin Ross Anthony, and a daughter, Katelyn Elyse Anthony, all of the home.  Tammy also leaves behind four siblings and their spouses, Tony (Blanche) Harmon, of Sierra Vista, AZ, Terri (Terry) Blackston, Tim (Millie) Harmon, and Todd (Emily) Harmon, all of Williamston; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held at Marathon Church at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, with the Reverend Mickey Gambrell, her pastor in her youth, and the Reverend Eddie Cox, Senior Pastor of Marathon and her current pastor.
The family is at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E. Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC 29621.

SARA GILES
WILLIAMSTON – Sara Elizabeth Richardson Giles, 89, of Williamston, died Monday, May 21, 2012, in the home where she was born July 22, 1922 to the late Charles Mills and Lydia Pearl Darnell Richardson.
Sara was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Ralph Mull (Marsha), of Simpsonville, and Michael D. Giles (Micki), of Westminster; sister, Mary Richardson Carter, of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Rhonda Giles Lyle (Sonny), Tonya Lyle Smith (Johnny), Warren C. Giles, Jessica Seymour, Tonya Smith Dozier (Randy), Waymon Smith (Tracy), Jeff Mull (Jenny) and Brad Mull; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the funeral home chapel with burial following at Garden of Memories in Belton.
The family is at the home.

TYRUS RICHARD BRUCE
Tyrus Richard Bruce, 64, of Piedmont, died Monday, May 21, 2012.
He was born to the late Tyrus W. and Dorothy Moore Bruce.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Seawright Bruce; four sons, Ty, Daniel, Matthew, and Danny Bruce; two daughters, Marie Green and Laura York; a sister, Virginia Smith; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy.
The family is at the home of Jeanette Pinion, 314 Willow Dr., Piedmont.
