Pastor Matt Austin

Grace Baptist Church had its first meeting in the spring of 1982. Pastor John Griffith took over the pastoral responsibilities. With 25 people joining in charter membership March 20, 1983 the church officially forged ahead.

Upon Pastor Griffith’s resignation in 1991, Dick Gray was called as pastor and would serve until February 2007. Under Pastor Gray’s ministry, the original building was paid off and the present facilities (new church, gym and education wing) were constructed.

In April 2007 Matt Austin became the first full-time pastor. Grace Baptist Church is still preaching and teaching the Bible and reaching out to the community through weekly programs to children, teens, nursing homes, Neighborhood Summer Bible ministry, semi-annual Bible conferences, choir, adult ministries for seniors, young married couples, parenting instruction, and the start of Piedmont Baptist Bible Institute this fall.

The church’s website gives more details of the present ministry opportunities and invites all to consider where they may fit at Grace Baptist Church, where “holding forth the word of faith” continues to be our motto and message.
