A public hearing will be held Monday July 2 on rezoning of property located on North Hamilton St. and Austin St. in Williamston. The change involves six lots which will be rezoned from R1 single family residential (R1) to highway commercial (HC). Persons wishing to speak on the issue may view the zoning maps at the Williamston Municipal Center prior to the hearing and will be availalble at the hearing.
The town’s planning commission is recommending the change because that highway commercial zoning classification more fully complies with the general area and the highest and best use of the property.
First reading on the ordinance to change the zoning will be held at the Williamston Town Council meeting, Monday, Monday July 2.
