Former Williamston Mayor and current candidate for mayor Phillip Clardy will undergo surgery this Friday to remove a benign pituitary tumor. Clardy said he has a positive outlook and prognosis for recovery and is being treated by an extraordinary team of physicians, including one of the best neurosurgeons and endocrinologists in the area.

Clardy said the condition is serious but he is not in any immediate or life altering danger.

Clardy said the procedure for the condition has proven very successful in the past.

Based upon that he said he has not changed his intentions to continue to run for mayor of Williamston.

A message from Clardy to the community is in this week’s Journal.
