Oppermann Webbing, a maker of tie-downs and webbing for cargo transportation, recently announced plans to expand its current operations in Anderson County. The $2.1 million investment is expected to generate 20 new jobs.
“We are excited about the opportunity to expand our operations in Anderson County. We are seeing an increase in demand for our products and increasing our production space will help us meet our customers’ needs. South Carolina has offered us an excellent business environment and a skilled workforce. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Roland Hossli, general manager of Oppermann Webbing.
Oppermann Webbing Inc. will expand its facility in Piedmont with an additional 38,000 square feet of space for the company’s production operations. This will add capacity to the weaving area and warehouse space. The company expects the expansion to be completed by mid-December.
“South Carolina continues to show that it is the right place for companies from around the globe to do business. Oppermann Webbing’s success and growth here is another sign of that. We celebrate the company’s $2.1 million investment and the creation of 20 new jobs in Piedmont,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $7 billion in capital investment and more than 17,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.
“Today’s announcement provides another boost to our state’s manufacturing sector. Manufacturing is the key to wealth creation. When companies like Oppermann Webbing expand and create new jobs, it has impact throughout the local and state economies,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
“This is another exciting announcement for District 6 – a minimum of 20 more jobs and $2.1 million in investment,” said Anderson County Councilman Ken Waters. “Piedmont is rapidly becoming a successful hub of global industry and this expansion announcement is more evidence that we are a business-friendly county that works alongside our companies and provides an environment that allows industry to prosper.”
The company plans to begin hiring for the new positions in November. Anyone interested in job opportunities with the company should contact the SCWorks center in Anderson at (864) 226-6273 at that time.
