JOE EVANS
Billy Joe Evans, 74, of Piedmont, husband of Annette Turner Evans, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2012, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Greer, he was the son of the late James and Ruth Evans.  He retired from Piedmont Beverage Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Keith Evans, Mike Evans, both of Easley; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

NELLIE THOMPSON
Nellie Thompson, 79, died Sunday, October 14, 2012.
She was born in Fork Shoals to the late Marvin Louis Meeks and Dollie Storay Meeks.
Surviving is a son, Michael Thompson; daughter, Cindy Layne; brothers, James and Larry Meeks; sister, Doris Jackson; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the home of Robert Thompson, 617 Slatton Shoals Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.

HESTER CALVERT
Hester Reese Scott Calvert, formerly of West Pelzer, widow of Cecil Scott, died Friday, October 12, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Leroy and Rilla McGuiness Reese.  She retired from Gerber Childrenswear and was a member of the Pelzer Church of God.
She is survived by sons, Steve Scott of Greenville, Roger Scott of West Pelzer; brother, James Reese of West Pelzer; three grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, October 16 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

JAMES EDWARD HOOD
James Edward “Jaybird” Hood, 90, of Pacolet, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at his home.
Born in White Stone, he was the son of the late Ed and Ida Brown Hood.
He was a member of White Stone United Methodist Church. He retired as owner of J. Edward Hood Construction.
Surviving are his wife, Aurelia Copeland Clayton Hood; children, James Hood, Jr. of Mauldin, Linda Hood Hodge of Spartanburg, Clary Hood of Mayo, and Kathy Hood Jones of Piedmont; stepchildren, Rebekah Clayton Duvall of Laurens, Rose Clayton Pennington of Laurens, Eric Clayton of Clinton, Lelex Clayton of Laurens, and Lisa Clayton Taylor of Laurens; 9 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday at Tate Memorial Baptist Church. Burial followed in Lebanon Cemetery, White Stone.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

CAROLYN BRYSON
Carolyn Tollison Bryson, 70, of Williamston, widow of James T. Bryson, died Friday, October 12, 2012.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late James Peter and Bertha Bridges Tollison.  She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Vickie Madden of Greenville, Rhonda Childress of Piedmont, Amy Newton of Williamston; three grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Bryson, Catherine Hughes.
Funeral services were held October 14 at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.

SUE FELTMAN
Edith “Sue” Jeanette Lollis Feltman, 72, of Pelzer, widow of James “J. B.” Benjamin Feltman, died Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John Grady and Beatrice Lois Lollis.  She retired from the Bibb Corporation and was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, William Gregorey Masters Feltman of Pelzer; sisters, Sara Patterson  of Williamston, and Martha Gentry of Pelzer; brothers, Joe Lollis of Greenville, John G. Lollis, II and Jimmy Lollis, both of Pelzer; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

JERRY PHILLIPS
Jerry Phillips, 70, of Honea Path, husband of Wilma Jean Davis Phillips died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at AnMed Health in Anderson.
Born in Salem, he was a son of the late Jesse James Phillips and Margie Lay Phillips. He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and was retired from Woodside Mill in Fountain Inn.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and his mother are: three sons, Chris Philips of Greenville, Jim Phillips of Piedmont, and Michael Phillips of the home; two brothers, Ronnie and Ralph Phillips of Princeton; four sisters, Charlotte Robinson of Belton, Patricia Dyal of Newberry, Rita Hester of Pelzer and Nancy Stone of Winsboro; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Columbia Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

LARRY ‘BUTCH’ WILLIAMS
Memorial services for Larry ‘Butch’ Williams will be conducted at Dolly Cooper Veteran Cemetery at Belton on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. Friends and family are welcomed.

GEORGE RAY TUCKER
George Ray Tucker, 79, widower of Frances Crawford Tucker, of Belton, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Dawson and Margie Dean Tucker. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are son, Jimmy “Buddy” Driver of Williamston; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Dorchester Baptist Church Cemetery.
