Joseph Michael “Mich” McClellion, 25, of Anderson died Sunday after being struck by a vehicle on U. S. Hwy. 29 in front of the Jockey Lot. According to reports, McClellion was helping with a situation in which a lady had run her car of the road when a vehicle driven by Christopher Alexander Martin, 28, of Pelzer, lost control and veered to the right striking him. Martin was later charged with driving under the influence.
Initial reports that McClellion was chasing a shoplifter when the accident occured were untrue according to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown.
McClellion was the second oldest son of Dicky McClellion and was a part owner in the Jockey Lot which his father founded.
Martin was charged with felony driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance according to the Andeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Martin’s 2002 Buick also ran over the foot of James Richard McClellan before striking a concrete barrier and overturning. The incident remains under investigation.
