Need volunteers

Christian Men United in Prayer, a prayer group of 40 to 50 men that meets weekly at a local restaurant, will be in Mineral Spring Park on Wednesday, Nov. 21 cooking enough turkeys to provide a Thanksgiving meal for more than 160 families. The group plans to deep fry approximately 160 turkey breasts. Any area churches or persons interested in participating in the community wide Thanksgiving meal preparation are invited to join Christian Men United in Prayer next Wednesday, Nov. 21 in Mineral Spring Park.

They will need volunteers to help with packing and delivering meal boxes. Orgnaizers plan to pack 215 boxes with canned goods by 9 or 9:30 am. The first deliveries with turkeys will start at 9 am.

They also need people to make phone calls and deliver meals.

Entire families including youth, children and adults can help with the community wide ministry. “Return thanks this Thanksgiving by sharing with others,” a spokesperson said.

Christian Men United in Prayer was started by three men and has grown to include as many as 50.

They meet each Tuesday at the B&R Restaurant on US Hwy. 29 in front of the Jockey Lot.

Members of the group have helped organize a National Day of Prayer event held in Mineral Spring Park and have collected Candy Boxes to provide to military personnel in the armed services.
