A Candlelighting Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Williamston Cemetery. A brief ceremony will be held prior to the lighting of the candles. Johnnie Bell, Chairman of the Williamston Cemetery Committee, invites family and friends to come and light candles on the graves of their loved ones. The public is also invited to participate, as many of those buried in the historic cemetery no longer have living relatives in the area.

Candles will be placed on graves by the Town of Williamston. Those atending are asked to bring lighters.

Bell noted that a cross of candles will be at the main entrance to the cemetery. Those who are physically unable to go to graves in the cemetery may light a candle there in remembrance of their loved ones.

Members of the Cemetery Committee, in addition to Bell, are Julie Cole, Lib Ford, Pamela Owens, Jane Tucker and Willie Wright.
