Piedmont man charged with attempted murder

A Piedmont man accused of setting his mother on fire on Jan. 1 was arrested last week after being released from the hospital. Stanley Davis, 38, of Piedmont, is charged with attempted murder for setting his mother on fire in Piedmont on Jan. 1 at a home on River Road. Davis was in the hospital for three weeks where he was being treated for gunshot wounds he suffered after being shot by a family member shortly after he set his mother on fire, according to investigators.

Davis went to a home on Langston Street where he was shot by his brother, Anthony Davis. Davis’ mother was taken to the Augusta Burn Center. Stanley Davis was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment for his gunshot wounds.
