GRADY ODELL RHOME, SR.
Grady Odell Rhome, Sr., 76, of Easley, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at his home. He was the son of the late Alonzo Rhome and Maebell Williams.
Surviving are daughters, Margaret Evans, Cynthia Rhome, and Jacqueline Rhome, all of Easley, Deborah Rhome of Simpsonville; sons, Grady O. Rhome, Jr. of Simpsonville, Grady Williams of Piedmont, and Kenneth Williams of Easley; sisters, Alma Williams, Daisy Judge, Jean Madison, all of Easley; and brother, Curtis Rhome of Easley.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Greater True Light FBH Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

OTIS ALBERT MOTES, JR.
Otis Albert Motes, Jr, 70, husband of Linda Jane Crawford Motes, of Belton, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Otis Albert Motes, Sr. and Blanche Caldwell Motes.
He retired from Piedmont Natural Gas and served in the Army National Guard, and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: daughter, Kelli M. Hembree of Belton; son, Nicholas Motes of Williamston; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Garden of Memories.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church of Belton.

JAMES ‘SLICK’ CASEY
WILLIAMSTON – James Edward “Slick” Casey, 61, of Midway Road, husband of Mary Babb Casey, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at his home.
Born in Williamston, he was the son of M.J., Jr. and Jeanette Jones Casey of Williamston. He was employed by Platt-Saco Lowell for 25 years and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by son, Eddie Casey and his wife, Dana, of Pelzer; grandson, Matthew James Casey; sisters, Karen Ursery and Eva Ann Taylor, both of Williamston; niece, Brandy Casey, of Williamston; and mother-in-law, Frances Babb, of Greenville.
Visitation was 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Huff officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of his son, Eddie Casey, 208 Rogers Road, Pelzer.

ROSA THURSTON
Rosa Lee Massey Thurston, 86, widow of Haskell Thurston, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Alpha Health Care in Greer.
Born in Pitt County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Bennie Erving and Clara Langley Massey. She was retired from the Greenville County School System and a Baptist.
Surviving are daughter, Waveline Holcombe of NC; sons, Doug Thurston and Vernon Thurston, both of Piedmont; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

KATHRYN WALDROP
Kathryn Rena Underwood Waldrop, 90, of Pelzer, widow of Jack Waldrop, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Brooks County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Burns and Sarah Cornelia Jones Underwood. She was a member of Anderson Christian Fellowship.
Surviving are two sons, David Waldrop of Pelzer and Jack Dennis Waldrop of Ackworth, Ga; two grandchildren; amd two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 29 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton, GA.

T. SCOTT DODSON
T. Scott Dodson, 51, of Beech Mountain, NC, and Columbia, died on April 17, 2013.
He was the son of Ellen “Teddy” Prince Harper Dodson of Beech Mountain, NC, and James and Lillian Dobson of Charleston.
He was predeceased by his father, George Ray Harper; grandparents, George and Mozelle Harper of Williamston and Theodore and Dotty Prince of Pelzer.
He is survived by his son, Harper Ray Dodson; and brother, Mack Crolley “Chip” Dodson, both of Beech Mountain, NC.

CHRIS SELMAN
BELTON—Christopher Alan “Chris” Selman, 33, of 301 Brown Avenue, husband of Jennifer Corcoran Selman, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his residence.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Robert Steven “Steve” and Vickie Scroggs Selman.  He was employed by Cytec Industries, Inc., in Piedmont.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his son, Jackson Christopher Selman, of the home; parents, of Williamston; grandmother, Nellie Scroggs, of Pelzer; brother, Steven “Butch” Selman, of Williamston; and many close family members and friends who were special to him.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Bernice Cox, Robert Selman, and Joe Scroggs, Sr.; and brother, Robert “Bob” Selman.
Visitation will be held 12:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.  Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

RACHEL TROTTER
PIEDMONT – Rachel Durham Trotter, 83, of 306 Trotter Road, widow of Frank Trotter, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late George Hulon and Eva Mae Bagwell Durham.  She was a homemaker and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, Jerry Trotter and wife, Rachel of Anderson; daughters, Beth Dalrymple and husband, Charlie of Belton, Kathy Webb and husband, Ron of Easley, Gail Trotter of Easley; brothers, “B.J.” Durham and wife, Peggy of Anderson,  Hugh Durham and wife, Elaine of Williamston; sister, Deloris Patton and husband, Dan of Piedmont; sister-in-law, Ann Durham of Piedmont; grandchildren, Chris Trotter and wife, Kimberly, Justin Trotter and wife, Candace, Joshua Wilson and wife, Jenna, Erin Wilson; great grandchildren, Nathan Trotter, Abigail Trotter, Lila Wilson.
She was predeceased by brothers, Ray and Marshall Durham.
Visitation was held from 6-8 pm Friday, April 26, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services were 11 am Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Whitefield Baptist Church.  Burial followed in Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

MARION MONROE NEWTON
Marion Monroe Newton, 69, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away Friday, April 26 at the Kindred Center in Rome, Ga.
He was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Newton and Walter M. Smith and Leora Link Smith, his parents, Raymond Augustus Newton and Juanita Smith Newton Rhode, and his former wife Carol Henderson Newton. He is survived by his step-father, Adrian Lee Rhode, his children, Suzanne Newton McCollum and Chuck Newton, and his grandchildren, Brighton, Landry and Blakely McCollum and Charlie and Caroline Newton.
Marion Newton, a native of Clemson, was a graduate of Daniel High School and The University of Georgia.  He was a beloved son, father and grandfather.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 26, from 2-4 p.m. at East Clemson Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.southcare.us
