LEE ROY ‘FLAT’ BROADWELL
PIEDMONT – Lee Roy “Flat” Broadwell, 88, of 7 Sue Cleveland School Rd., husband of Doris Willene Ford Broadwell, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at his home.
Born in Elberton, GA, he was a son of the late Walter Lee “Flat” Roy and Floy Estell Smith Broadwell.  He was retired from J.P. Stevens Furman Plant, a member of Piedmont Wesleyan Church, and a U.S. Army veteran, having received the Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars.
He was predeceased by a son, Keith L. Broadwell.
Surviving in addition to his wife are nephews, Carthel Crout (Sharon) of Williamston and Stan Crout (Jean) of Greer; sister,  Mozelle Hendrix of Woodruff; several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 1-2 pm Friday, May 10, 2013 at Piedmont Wesleyan Church.
Funeral services followed at 2 pm.  Burial was in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home.

MURIEL BELL
Willie Muriel Ashley Bell, 85, formerly of Belton, widow of Roy Bell, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Hosanna Health and Rehab of Piedmont.
Born in Abbeville County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Ricketts and the late Ella Ashley Kinard. She retired from Rice Mills in Belton.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Hudson of Belton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, May 11, at Garden of Memories, Belton.

JESSIE BAGWELL
Jessie Hazel Loftis Bagwell, 89, formerly of Pelzer, widow of Joseph Thomas Bagwell, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Countryside Village in Easley.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late David Eugene and Minnie Lee Lancaster Loftis. She retired from Union Carbide and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11 at the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Piedmont.
Family members are at their respective homes.

LARRY VENCE WILLIAMS
Larry Vence Williams of Greenville, died May 7, 2013.
He was born in Washington, DC and was the son of Mrs. Cornell Williams of Williamston and the late Frank Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Williams; sister, Janet Washington of Williamston.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 13 at the Cremation Society of SC.

MARY FRANCES GUTHRIE
WEST PELZER – Mary Frances Phelps Guthrie, 85, formerly of West Pelzer, widow of Marshall Heyward Guthrie, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Griffin, GA.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Ezra D. and Lula Herring Phelps. She retired from Bi-Lo and was a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Teresa Haynie (Phil), of Peachtree City, GA; a sister, Doris Crooks (Alvin); and grandchildren, Ryan and Kensley Haynie.
She was predeceased by a brother, Alvin Phelps; and a sister, Eunice Owens.
Visitation was 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Smith and the Rev. Alvin Crooks officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

MELVIN LEROY HANKS, JR.
Melvin Leroy Hanks, Jr., 81, of Piedmont, husband of Marilyn Joan Ross Hanks, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Melvin Leroy Hanks, Sr. and Fearil Jordan Hanks.  He was retired from Pike Electric, and a Baptist. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Sharla Hanks Smith of Greenville, Sheryl Sullivan of Pelzer; sons, David Hanks of Fountain Inn, James Hanks of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Shelby Roberts and Vivian Todd, both of Anderson.
A graveside service was held Monday, May 13, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

TERRY ‘BUCK’ FRICKS
PELZER – Terry “Buck” Keith Fricks, 61, of 142 Holland Ford Rd., husband of Amy Rebecca Hackett Fricks, died May 10, 2013.
Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Rudolph and Mildred Jane Spearman Fricks.  He was formerly employed with Michelin at Donaldson Center and a member of Tabernacle of Faith in Piedmont.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Misty Mullins and Dacey Fricks, both of Pelzer, Sissy Spears of Piedmont; son, Jeremy Fricks of Pelzer; brother, Billy Craig Fricks of Tallahassee, FL; sisters, Brenda Thompson of Fountain Inn and Debbie Black of Williamston; grandchildren, Jewells McCutcheon, Soloman, Miriam, Elijah, Titus Spears, Darion, Josie, Bella Fricks.
Visitation was from 6-8 pm Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
A memorial service was held 3 pm Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Tabernacle of Faith with Pastor Mahlon Helmuth officiating.
The family is at the home.

EDWARD W. WHITE
Edward William White, 77, of Iva, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Exalted Health and Rehab in Iva.
Born in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Herbert Talmadge White and Florence Eleanor Corbet White.
He served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, Mary A. Helms White, of the home, he is survived by his sister, Armeda Badgley of Columbus, OH; three sons, Edward “Eddie” White, Jr. of Columbus, OH, David Guin of Pelzer, and Billy Guin of Williamston; four daughters, Margo White of Columbus, OH, Flo White Beeson of Peebles, OH, Betty Guin Holliday of Williamston, Cindy Guin Harris of Anderson, and Becky Guin Ross of Center Pointe, AL; 26 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 14 in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

ANN DYAR
Annie “Ann” Laura Lowe Dyar, 78, of Williamston, widow of James Clayton Dyar, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Boyce Thomas and Inez Fields Lowe. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughter, Debra Kelley of the home; sister, Selma King of Belton; brothers, Jack Lowe of Williamston, and Gerald Lowe of Belton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 15, at the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

RETA JO COKER SMITH
WILLIAMSTON – Reta Jo Coker Smith, 75, of 1 Shaw Drive, widow of Jessie Leroy Smith, Jr., died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Coker and Nell Strickland Coker Jackson. She was retired from Cole’s Pharmacy and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Vickie Smith Shealy and husband, Jay of Sumter; grandsons, Grey and Josh Shealy; brother, Larry Coker of Belton.
A graveside service was held  Monday, May 13, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson with Rev. Kempie Shepard officiating. Visitation followed the service.

OLETA ‘DENA’ SMITH BRASHIER
Oleta “Dena” Smith Brashier of Piedmont, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
She is survived by her husband,  Fred “Eddie” Brashier.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 14 at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

SYLVIA ‘PEGGY’ ROBINSON
Sylvia “Peggy” Robinson, 80, formerly of Piedmont, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at McCall Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Only and Hazeline Sullivan Byrd.
Surviving are daughters, Janis Neely of Greenville, Hazeline Jones of the home, Cheryl Smith of Charleston, and Loretta Maddox; son, Terry Byrd of Auburn, AL; sister, Princella Smith of Piedmont; brothers, Only Byrd and Benny Byrd, both of Piedmont; and a host of grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Wednesday at St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

LAURA STRINGER DILL
Laura Stringer Dill, 73, of Waleska, GA, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Heritage Hospice. Laura was the daughter of the late Harley and Edna Stringer of Williamston.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Roger Dill, of the home; are her sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Kaye Dill of Woodstock, GA, Dirk and Kelly Dill of Ball Ground, GA, and daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Joe Savitz of Gainesville, GA; brothers, Kenneth Stringer of Andrews, SC and Tim Gentry of Williamston, SC.
Laura had six grandchildren and one great-grandchild which were the sunshine of her days.
Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Darby Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, GA with Pastor Dallas White officiating. Visitation was from 3:00 until the funeral hour. The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: City Church 2951 Moon Station Road, Kennesaw, GA, 30144.
The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JERRY REVIS
Jerry Edward Revis, 39, of Williamston, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Bobbie Ellison Hemrick and the late Jerry Wayne Revis.
He was formerly employed with Waffle House and member of New Life Christian Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by step-father, Lee Hemrick of Williamston; brother, Michael Wayne Revis of Williamston; grandmother, Kelley Frogge; step-grandfather, James Frogge.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Anderson.

NATHAN BAKER
Nathan Lee Baker, 43, of Piedmont, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his home.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 with memorial services immediately following at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer

COLIE BURTON
Colie Bleez Burton, 81, husband of Dot Brazeal Burton, of Honea Path, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Rufus A. D. and Mallie Sanders Burton. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a retired carpenter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by brothers, Frank Burton of Piedmont, and Hayward Burton of OK; sister, Mallie Ruth Hartsock of Simpsonville; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 4 pm Thursday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.

ANGIE OWENS
Angie Owens, 46, died Monday, May 13, 2013.
She was born November 9, 1966 in Easley to Annette Fuller Moore and the late Billy Owens.
Surviving is her mother and a brother, Randy Owens.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

B. J. DURHAM
Billy Joe “B.J.” Durham, 75, of Anderson, husband of Peggy Roberts Durham, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his home.
Born in the White Plains Community, he was the son of the late George H. and Eva Bagwell Durham. He was a member of the SC National Guard, formerly owned and operated Electrical Supplies Company and was currently the owner of Durham’s Industrial Maintenance Services. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his  wife are a son, Joe Michael Durham of the home; brother, Hugh Durham of Williamston; and sister, Deloris D. Patton of Piedmont.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
