The Town of Williamston will host an artist reception next Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Williamston Municipal Center. All local artists are invited to bring and display their art to show support for a proposed cultural arts center in Williamston. Anyone in the community who appreciates and supports the arts and would like to see a cultural arts program in the area is also encouraged to attend the event.

The Williamston Cultural Arts program will include visual and performing arts events and programs including classes, art shows, musical and theatrical performances and other related activities.

The progam already has support of nationally known portrait artist Michael Del Priore, local artist and teacher Thomas Addison and others.

According to Williamston Mayor Mack Durham, the recently acquired National Guard Armory building will become the home for the Williamston Cultural Arts Center.

“Come and be a part of this historical chapter in our community,” Mayor Durham said. “Join us, enlighten our community, empower your art, create new relations and help us create a revitalized community made alive by the arts.”
