Title I Rewards School

West Pelzer Elementary School is among six South Carolina Title I schools being recognized for superior student achievement by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE).

West Pelzer School will receive a $5,000 grant from the SCDE for their overall student achievement. This will allow administration and select teachers to attend the SC Title I 2013 Fall Conference to share best practices with other Title I schools across the state.

The selected Title I schools demonstrate a variety of educational best practices that include team approaches to teaching, implementation of learning programs to enhance student performance, on-going focused professional development for staff, and increased development of partnerships between the school, parents, and the community.

“This award is well deserved to recognize the achievement of West Pelzer Elementary. It is a team effort led by the outstanding instructional leaders, principal Stacy Hashe and assistant principal, Cathy Heath. The teachers, students and entire school family are working together to help each child be successful,” said Jane Harrison, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.

Stacy Hashe, Principal, said “The news was rewarding and exciting for West Pelzer Elementary to be recognized for student performance.  Our staff’s continued efforts helped our students’ achievement to increase.  We are so thankful to have great support from our parents and district administration.”

David Havird, Superintendent of Anderson One said, “West Pelzer Elementary Schools leadership and staff have worked tirelessly to set clear standards and have high expectations for its students. The staff has demonstrated that by using many educational best practices and monitoring and caring about each student will certainly improve student performance. The district is pleased with this State Department of Education recognition and congratulates the leadership, staff, students and parents for the partnership that made this award possible. “
