MARGARET WILSON
Margaret I. Wilson, 62,  died Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Viola Hackett of Belton and the late Sinclair Hackett.
She was a member of NewSpring Church in Anderson.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Bernard Wilson; children, Bernard Wilson II of West Pelzer, Tina Wilson Beers of Williamston; two brothers, Sinclair “Moe” and Roy Hackett; sister, Linda Parker; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service was held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2. Interment followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

REBECCA JEAN DAVIS
Rebecca Jean Dodgens Davis, 51, of Liberty, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at her home.
Born in Bad Kruznach, Germany, she was the widow of the late Ronnie Dean Davis and a daughter of Van D. and Shirley Perrine Dodgens of Central.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a daughter, Caitlyn Davis of the home; sister, Patricia Dodgens of Norris; and a brother, James Dodgens of Piedmont.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.

ANNA MOSELEY
Piedmont – Anna Jane Moseley, 23, of 7 Prospect Street, died October 27, 2013.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Phillip Arthur Moseley of Augusta, GA and Lisa Hooper Moseley of Aiken.
Surviving in addition to her parents are son, Ashton Tyler Allison of West Pelzer; daughter, Lillian Grace Lyric Parker of the home; brother, Michael Tyler Moseley of Pelzer; grandparents, Charles D. and Ola Jane Hooper of Pelzer, Joanne Moseley of Augusta, GA; special cousins, Elizabeth Ashley and John William Glasby of Pelzer.
Visitation was held from 1-2 pm Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service followed in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm.  Burial was at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

ROGER ALLEN GRUVER
Roger Allen Gruver, 87, husband of Joy Yvonne Paul Gruver, died October 30, 2013.
Born in Bedminster, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph Leidy and Alice Lear Gruver.
He was a member of Heritage Bible Church, served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict, and was a career auto mechanic.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Gary Lee Gruver of Lebanon, PA, Vonda Gruver Pickelsimer of Piedmont, Dwayne Gruver of Margaret, AL; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers, Lorraine Myers, Louise Whitman, Walter Gruver, and Raymond Gruver.
Predeceased was his first wife, Ida Thelma Gruver.
Funeral services were held Sat., Nov. 2 at Heritage Bible Church, Greer. Burial followed at Mechanicsville Cemetery in Doyleston, PA.

HATTIE MEDLIN CATER
Hattie Medlin Cater, 95, wife of the late Andrew Columbus Cater, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Laurens.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Martha Elizabeth Landers Medlin and Henry Allen Medlin.
She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Surviving are twin daughters, Brenda Gale Eisenman of Simpsonville, Linda Mangum of Powdersville; three sons, Jimmy Cater of Marietta, Roger Cater of Pickens, Rocky Cater of Pickens; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Oct. 31 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

RUFUS WOODROW “WOODY” SETTLE, II
Rufus Woodrow “Woody” Settle, II, 63, of Inman, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home.
Born in Spartanburg, a son of Jean (Quinn) Setlle of Inman and the late Rufus Woodrow Settle, he was the husband of Brenda (Maxwell) Settle.
He retired from GE Power Systems and was a member of  Inman First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Patrick Settle of Inman and Christopher Settle of Piedmont; sister, Mary Jean Deal of Anderson; brother, Dennis Settle of Spartanburg; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 2 at Inman First Baptist Church. Burial with Masonic Rites followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

IDA ELIZABETH SULLIVAN
Ida Elizabeth Sullivan, 84, of Williamston, died Monday, October 28, 2013.
Funeral services were held November 5 at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Williamston.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.

JOHN L. KING, JR.
PELZER—John L. King, Jr., 91, of 175 Williams Road in the Ware Place community, husband of sixty-eight years to Sybil Brock King, died Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Born September 28, 1922 in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late Annie Simpson King and John Leonard King, Sr. A WWII veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps as a crew chief on C-47 cargo planes which flew supplies for Burma and India into China over the Himalaya Mountains which was known during the war as “flying the hump.” He was a member of Washington Baptist Church for over sixty years.  In the 1940’s and early 1950’s, he worked in the shop for Mills Mill and Dunean textile mills. He was also an All-star catcher for the Mills and later the Dunean baseball teams in the Western Carolina League. In 1953 he went to work for Duke Power at the Lee Steam Plant in Williamston and retired from Duke Power in 1984. A part-time farmer he raised registered Hereford cattle since 1946 and was inducted into the SC Hereford Hall of Fame in May of 2013.  He was a devoted husband and father.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by sons Donnie R. King (Pam) and Rickey D. King (Beth); and grandson John Wiley King.
Visitation was held at Washington Baptist Church 12:30-2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Flowers may be accepted or memorials may be made to the Faith Offering at Washington Baptist Church, 208 Washington Church Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.
The family would like to thank the Anderson Place staff for the excellent care they gave to John and for the love and support they showed not only to him but to the entire King family.

MARVIN ‘SQUARE’ MANLEY
Marvin “Square” Manley, 81, of Williamston, widower of Evelyn Higginbotham Manley, died November 3, 2013.
Born in Slabtown, he was a son of the late John Willie and Lois Poore Manley.  He was retired from Cryovac, a member of Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his sister, Katie Gillespie of Belton.
Funeral service was held Tuesday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Entombment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

BERTHA SANDERS
Bertha Louise Clardy Sanders, 87, of Anderson, widow of William Fred Sanders, died November 4, 2013 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.  She was known at Richard Campbell as “Betty Boop” or “Mrs. Betty”.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late A.B. and Eula Ellison Clardy.  She was a member of White Plains Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are one granddaughter, and brother, Homer Clardy of Pelzer.
The funeral service was held Wednesday at White Plains Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

JULIUS ‘GRANNY’ REID
Julius E. Reid, 83, of Pelzer, died November 4, 2013 at his home.
He was the son of the late Robert and Annie Mae Alverson Reid.  He was retired from Davis Electric.
Surviving are daughters, Donna Davis of the home and Susan J. Richard of Louisiana; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 pm Thursday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

TIM ALLEN
Piedmont – Timothy Milton Allen, 46, of 1009 Pine Street, husband of Darlene Powell, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Tommy and Jenny Moody Allen. He was an employee of Baldor Electric Company and attended Restoration Chapel in Williamston. Tim was a member of the Ponderosa Hunting Club and the Four Seasons Hunting Club.
Surviving are stepdaughter, Sonya Powell, of the home; stepmother, Evelyn Allen, of Piedmont; brother, Brian Allen (Michelle); nieces, Kailee and Karly Allen, all of Powdersville; stepbrothers, Ronnie Bennefield and Donnie Bennefield, both of Williamston; and step-sister, Tammie McIntosh, of Williamston.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with visitation immediately following the service.
The family is at the home.

CLYDE ROBERT ‘BOB’ ELLISON
Clyde Robert “Bob” Ellison, 76, of Williamston, died November 4, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellison; children, Clay and Allan Ellison and Julie Norton.
A private memorial service is planned.

LINDA BRYANT OWENS
Linda Jean Bryant Owens, 72, died Sunday, November 3 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Liberty, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Geneva White-Bryant.
She retired from Peoples National Bank and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her sons, Mike Owens of Easley, Jim Owens of Liberty, their father, Jerry Owens of Easley; three sisters and two brothers, Joyce Courter of Coffey, MO, Larry Bryant of Pelzer, Barbara Nix of Easley, Olivia Whitman of Easley, Butch Bryant of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 2-3 p.m. at Robinsons Funeral Home on Powdersville Rd. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.
