Wildcat players present musical Hair

The Wildcat Players will present their production of the play Hair – Let the Sunshine in at Woodmont High School Nov. 7-9. The show will start at 6:30 p.m. each of those three evenings. Admission is $5. The production of Hair is the Wildcat Players’ entry into the SC Theatre Association High School Festival that will take place at the Charleston County School of the Arts Nov 15-17. Twenty-five schools from all over the state are competing in the play festival.

Hair is described as an American Tribal Love-Rock Musical and serves as a major milestone in musical theater history, first debuting in New York in 1967. It features such songs as Aquarius, Where Do I Go, Good Morning Starshine, and Hair.

The show provides insight into the philosophy of the flower children of the 1960’s.

The production is under the direction of Woodmont High Theater Teacher Will Ragland.

Musical direction is by Berea High band director Josh Morton and choreography is by Kimberlee Fereirra. The production features 29 Woodmont High students and will run for 3 public performances:

Last year, Woodmont High won first place in the state competition with Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors.
