Local government, business and community leaders met with representatives of the National Main Street Center and Main Street South Carolina Program this week to begin the process of receiving feedback about the community.  Responses will be used to help identify where the town is and where it would like to go and will be used in establishling a vision statement, a mission statement and a yearly plan for the new economic development and revitalization program the town is undertaking.

The Baseline Assessment and Visioning process began Monday and continued all day Tuesday with Main Street SC Director Beppie LeGrand and National Trust Main Street Center Senior Program Officers Kathy LaPlante and Norma Miess leading discussion with those attending sessions to establish feedback to be used in the process.

The baseline assessment included looking at the strengths and opportunities of the downtown area; identifying specific needs and obstacles; outline services that meet local needs and will be used to help define priorities and programming goals for a work plan for the year ahead.

For more details about the process in this week’s Journal and posts that will be added to The Journal-Online website soon!
