JESSIE GOSNELL, TONY R. Jessie Gosnell
Pelzer – Jessie Myrtice Martin Gosnell, 89, wife of Willard Roland Gosnell, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Louann, AR she was a daughter of the late Sloan William and Reppard Eunice Martin Martin. She retired from the Lander Regional Memorial Library and was a member of Pelzer Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was active in the Women of the Church. Jessie was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, David S. Gosnell, of Simpsonville, and Keith W. Gosnell (Cheyrel), of Pelzer; grandchildren, Dana Fogle, Lindsay White, Wesley Gosnell, Sarah Zuniga and Evan Gosnell; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Phillip N. Gosnell; two sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial ws at Pine Lawn Cemetery.
The family is at the home.

TONY R. LeCROY
Tony R. LeCroy, 65, of Anderson, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Arthur O. LeCroy and the late Mary Ellen Tensley LeCroy.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was owner of LeCroy Roofing Company in Anderson and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Milligan LeCroy of the home; sons, Anthony S. LeCroy of Anderson, Gregory B. LeCroy of Anderson, and Russell Z. LeCroy of the home; daughter, Denise Lollis of Williamston; sister, Juanita Gambrell of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, December 7 at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.

WILLIE REE JONES
Willie Ree Jones, 79, of Williamston, died November 30, 2013.
She was born in Anderson County and was the daughter of the late Emerson Owens and Annie Lee Owens.
She was a member of Sweet Canaan Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Larry Donnell Jones of Hawaii; sisters, Wyona Moss, Verina Hunter, and Rose Owens; brother, Calvin Owens.
Funeral services were held Friday at Sweet Canaan Baptist Church in Piedmont. Burial folowed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ROSEMARY HOLLIDAY
WILLIAMSTON – Rosemary Gunn Holliday, 87, widow of Clyde C. Holliday, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2013.
Born in Liberal, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late Levi Martin and Fay Robinson Gunn.  She was formerly employed with the Williamston Library and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Susan Holliday of Belton.
She was predeceased by four siblings.
Visitation was from 10-11 am Friday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral followed at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chandler Black officiating.  A private burial was held at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

KENNETH THOMAS BLACK
A memorial service for Kenneth Thomas Black, 80, of Hartsville, was held Friday, December 6, 2013 at Woodlawn Serenity Mausoleum in Greenville.
Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late J.C. Black and Hazel Black.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by three sons, Marshall Black, Kenneth Black, Jr., and Tracy Black; three daughters, Beverly Mixon, Sheri Baugess and Janice Rivera; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

HENRY CHAPMAN
Henry Lee Chapman, 70, of Pelzer, husband of Elizabeth Cox Chapman, died on Thursday, December 5, 2013.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Evans of Pelzer; sons, Kevin Chapman and Henry Lee Chapman, Jr., both of Pelzer; six grandchildren.
A graveside service was  held Saturday at Washington Baptist Church Cemetery.

MARTHA CAMPBELL EARLE
Martha Ann Campbell Earle, 91, of Piedmont, died at home on December 7, 2013.
The daughter of the late Julius Herman and Sallie Mae Garrison Campbell, she was born in Greenville County.  She spent most of her career in Greenville County schools.  She also taught children of military families in England, Turkey, and Japan for three years.  She was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David Farrell Earle; daughter, Marjorie Earle Varn of Asheville, NC; two grandsons; brothers, David Campbell and Dick Campbell.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 9 at Sandy Springs Baptist Church.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

LOIS ROBINSON
Lois Bridges Robinson, 88, widow of Joe Edward Robinson, Sr., died Friday, December 6, 2013 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Laurens County, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Romney Ed and Julia Hodges Bridges. She retired from Union Carbide, was a member of Grove Station Baptist Church and attended Piedmont Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” R. Smith of Greenville; son, Joe Edward Robinson of Piedmont; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday, December 8 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at the Grove Station Baptist Church Cemetery.

BOBBY JOE JAMES, SR.
Bobby Joe James, Sr., 76, husband of Deborah D. James, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Joseph Rufus James and the late Myrtie Herring James.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Springs Industries and Quality Foods.
He was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Tammy Cleveland McGhee of Pensacola, FL; sons, Rev. Bobby J. James, Jr. of Kershaw, Timothy James of Belton, and Michael James of Easley; brothers, Jack James of Abbeville, Joe James of Honea Path, Bill James of Holden Beach, NC and Jimmy James of Williamston; sister, Nellie Aiken of Belton; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Homeland Park Baptist Church. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

CHRIS OWENS
Christopher Dean Owens, 48, of Pelzer, died December 6, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of Jean Knight Walker and the late William Gerald Owens.  He was formerly employed with Bi-Lo and a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.  He attended Real Life Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three children.
A memorial service was held  Sunday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.

STEPHEN MARK OWEN
Stephen Mark Owen, 54, died December 6, 2013 at NHC of Laurens.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Taresa Propes Owen and the late Eldridge Bradford Owen.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three siblings; Michael James Owen of Piedmont, Joan Owen Ulmer of Laurens, and Diana Owen Pope of Easley.
He was a member of Holmes Memorial Church in Greenville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 8 at The Carpenter’s House, 3213 River Road in Piedmont.

MINISTER FRANCES PORTER WRIGHT
ANDERSON – Minister Frances Wright was called home to eternal rest on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born on January 9, 1942 in Pendleton, SC to the late M. B. Porter and the late Johnnie Mae Porter.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Joe Wright, Sr., children, Anita Blassingame (of the home), Willie Joe Wright, Jr. of Williamston, Harvey Wright of Charlotte, NC, and Rodney Wright of Pelzer; grandchildren Loren Blassingame (Brett) Chestnut of Atlanta, GA, Antonio Jones of Anderson, Dustin Wright of Williamston, Tiffani Wright and Will Wright, both of the home; siblings, John Henry (Bernice) Porter of Piedmont, Hattie Johnson of Brooklyn, NY, Geraldine (Rev. Spurgeon) Mattison, Charlena (Eddie) Armstrong, both of Pendleton, M.B. Porter, Jr. of Greenville, Rick (Lisa) Porter, Don Whittenberg, both of Anderson, and a host of close relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Bernard Wright; brothers, Joe Nathan “Billy” and Robert Porter. Frances was licensed as a minister on December 4, 2005 under the leadership of the Rev. Joe Murray at Mountain Springs Baptist Church in Pendleton. She devoted her life to God by preaching the Word of God, and helping others to see the light. She served in many capacities in the local and surrounding communities: Director of the Summer Program, Treasurer at the Caroline Community Center of Williamston, and Chairman of the United Methodist Women.
After marrying Willie Joe Wright, Sr. on December 27, 1960, she joined membership with him and became a member at Bethel United Methodist Church in Williamston, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir, a treasurer, and participated in various other activities.
When Bethel A.M.E. Church closed, she and her family attended New Golden Grove United Methodist Church of Piedmont.
Frances retired from her job at National Electric Carbon Corporation, a.k.a. Union Carbide, Greenville, in 1997 after 33 years of service.
Visitation was on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Unity Mortuary of Williamston, 110 N. Hamilton Street, Williamston, SC 29697. The family was at 23 School Street, Williamston.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Minister Frances Wright was held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, 4801 Liberty Hwy., Anderson, with Rev. Spurgeon Mattison officiating. Interment followed at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, Williamston, SC 803 Greenville Drive, Williamston. The body was placed in the church for viewing one hour before the service. Services are under the direction of the Unity Mortuary of Williamston.

ALFRED G. FERGUSON
Alfred G. Ferguson, 66, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of Mrs. Odean Murphy and the late Grady Ferguson.
Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife, Linda Ferguson; sons, Antoine Ferguson of Piedmont and Kevin Ferguson of Easley.
Funeral service was held Tuesday at Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

MICHAEL ANTHONY YOUNG
Michael Anthony Young, 52, of Greenville, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Eleanor L. Young of Piedmont and the late James Angelo Williams.
Surviving are daughter, Juoaquima Cremedy of Greer; sons, Travis Harris, Anthony Harris, and Brandon Heard, all of Greenville; sisters, Donna Williams of Delaware and Sahron W. Miller of Ohio; brothers, Christopher Young of Piedmont, Michael Angelo Williams of Delaware, and Tony Williams of TX.
Funeral service was held Wwednesday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary.

JOAN McKEE
Joan Paige McCombs McKee, 80, of Pelzer, died Monday, December 9, 2013, at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Dean “Chot” and Susie Louise Durham McCombs, Sr.  She was formerly employed by Monaghan Mills in Greenville and was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God.
Surviving are sons, Wayne and Michael McKee of the home; daughter, Jayne Hicks of Pelzer; brother, O.D. McCombs, Jr. of Pelzer; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday at Guthrie Grove Church of God.  The funeral will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Burial will follow at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

STEVE DUNCAN
WILLIAMSTON—Steve Allen Duncan, 57, of 214 South Academy Street, husband of Chereita Dillard Duncan, died Monday, December 9, 2013, at AnMed.
Born in Anderson County, SC, he is a son of the late James Lewis Duncan and Dorothy Hood Letterman.  He was a member of Williamston Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughters, Melanie Duncan, of Williamston and Jessica Webb, of Belton; son, Brandon Duncan, of Townville; brother, Morris Duncan, of Westminster; sister, Cathy Sanders, of Seneca; and grandchildren, Whitney Holsclaw, Mallory Holsclaw, Lila Bennefield, Khalil Bennefield, Lane Duncan, Felicity Webb, and Trinity Webb.
He was predeceased by sister, Brenda Doyle.
Visitation was 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary.  The funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

DANNY RAY McALISTER
Danny Ray McAlister, 52, died in Columbia on Friday, December 6, 2013.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Leopard of Anderson and father, Thomas McAlister of Newberry; brothers, Thomas McAlister, Jr. of Anderson and Gary McAlister of Anderson; children, Daniel McAlister and Jason McAlister of Anderson, Matthew McAlister of Wake Forest, NC, Cody McAlister and Amanda McAlister of Piedmont; half-sister, Linda Clinkscale of Greenville; half-brother, Tatum McAlister of Newberry; and ten grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gethsemane Baptist Temple, Hwy. 81 South, Anderson at 3 p.m. on December 14.
