Anderson County P.A.W.S. will be a contestant in the 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. P.A.W.S. is competing for a chance at more than $600,000 in grant funding, including a grand prize of $100,000 inthe contest which begins June 1. The 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge is a nationwide competition for animal shelters (and their communities) aimed at getting more animals adopted or returned to their owners than ever before.

P.A.W.S. has been selected to participate in the Challenge for the second consecutive year. P.A.W.S. and the Anderson community combined to save the lives of 878 companion animals during the 2013 Challenge period.

“We are so happy to have been chosen to participate once again in the Challenge,” said P.A.W.S. Director Jessica Cwynar. “The ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge is a great motivator for our team and the entire Anderson community. We are excited to have the chance to help connect hundreds of the beautiful, fun, loving cats and dogs in our shelter with the right families. Working together, we will save hundreds of animals and enrich the lives of new adopting families.”

P.A.W.S is planning many special events and promotions for the Challenge contest period, which runs from June 1 to August 31, but residents are encouraged to come out before the Challenge period starts and see the wide selection of puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats are available. “We have many great, loving animals here who need homes today”, said Cwynar. “Our adoption counselors will work with you to find the right companion animal for you and your family.”
