Greenville & Western Railway Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation, will be resurfacing the Academy Street rail-highway grade crossing February 17 through February 19.

It is anticipated that the Academy Street crossing will be closed for approximately 72 hours beginning the morning of February 17 and extending through the evening of February 19. During the brief road closure, motorists should use Broad Street to Gossett Drive to West 1st Street as a detour route around the closed section of Academy Street.

Academy Street will remain open to local traffic on both sides of the grade crossing, including access to Parker Street on the west side of the closure, with limited blockages on Parker Street as drainage pipe is replaced concurrent with the grade crossing repairs.

Trucks are advised not to use Gossett Drive between Williams Street and SC Hwy. 20 (Main Street) due to 9’4” overhead clearance restriction at Mineral Spring Park.

Greenville & Western Railway officials thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding during this temporary road closure.
