The Greater Williamston Business Association (GWBA) currently has a membership drive underway. Under the leadership of President Chris Trotter, and with help from other members, the GWBA ended the year with 65 members, nearly doubling in number from previous years. The group is renewing members for 2014 and the membership drive for new members will run through March 31. Three new members joined in January and another four in February.

Membership Chairman Robin Tucker said the membership committee is being proactive in recruiting and visiting.

The group is offering recruiting incentives of gift cards at a chain restaurant for members recruiting one or more new members.

2014 membership applications and invite cards are available from all GWBA members. New window decals are also being placed at member businesses.

Top reasons for joining the GWBA are:

Networking opportunities – Grow your business by meeting other local business partners through monthly business meetings, various social events and fundraising events held throughout the year.

Marketing opportunitues – The GWBA website has links to the membership directory; a “Business of the Week” is promoted on the GWBA website and in The Journal; GWBA Facebook page with current and upcoming events; Sponsorships and marketing available through several scheduled town events through the years.

Credibility – GWBA membership decal recognizing your business as an active participant and advocate for Williamston area businesses.

The GWBA mission statement states: We associate ourselves together for the following purposes; to promote a harmonious working relationship with all businesses in the Town of Williamston and adjoining communities; to encourage and support community development; to cooperate with all governmental authorities to actively encourage and solicit new businesses and industry for our area and to constantly work together to positively promote our community.

Meetings are held at 12 noon on the third Tuesday of each month at member restaurant locations. Yearly membership is $120.
