WILLIAMSTON – Edith Ellison Whitlock, 91, of 402 McAlister Rd., widow of Roy Woodford Whitlock, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Hosanna Health and Rehab in Piedmont.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Miles R. and Della Breazeale Ellison.  She was a loving Navy wife, a homemaker, and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.
Surviving are grandchildren, Richard H. Parker, III, Roy R. Parker, Michelle P. Putnal and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by children, Roy Randall Whitlock and Elaine W. Parker; siblings, Hulet, Douglas, William Hoke, Kenneth, and Jerald Ellison; Kathleen Martin, Doris Beddingfield, Gladys McAlister, Luvia Thompson, and Thelma Fetner.
Visitation was held from 10-11 am Friday, February 21, 2014 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service followed at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Clardy officiating.  Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

KELVIN BARKSDALE
Kelvin Barksdale, 49, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late James and Mary Floyd Barksdale.
Surviving are sons, Kelvin Black and Corey Black, both of Greenville; sisters, Sherita Ramsey and Pamela Shelton, both of Mauldin, Adrienne Floyd, Cynthia Barksdale, and Angela Barksdale, all of Greenville; brother, Pastor Johnny Floyd of Piedmont; and two grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday at Word of Faith Christian Fellowship with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

SYBLE HAM PERRY
PIEDMONT, SC – Syble Ham Perry, age 92, formerly of Piedmont, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Eden Terrace Assisted Living, Spartanburg, SC.
Born in Iva, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar Ham and the late Betty Evans Ham.  Syble was a graduate of Iva High School and worked for Sears for over 25 years.  She was active in the Bonnes Amies Club in Piedmont, SC.  She was a member of Piedmont United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women’s Group.
She is survived by her children, Joe Perry and his wife Pamela, of Piedmont, SC; Cindy Smith and her husband Tom, of Spartanburg, SC and Jane Kitzrow and her husband Jay, of Salisbury, MD; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. “Dick” Perry; three brothers, Marion, Olin and Mack Ham; and two sisters, Evelene Willingham and Ruth Greenway.
Following a private family committal at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, a memorial service was held at Piedmont United Methodist Church on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Justin Gilreath officiating.  The family gathered for a time of visitation following the service at the church.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Eden Terrace Assisted Living and Regency Hospice for the love and care shown to Syble during her time with them.

CAROLINE MARIE VAUGHN
Caroline Marie Vaughn, 43, of Williamston, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at her home.
She was the daughter of Linda Blanton Watson and the late Frankie Watson.
Surviving are two sons, Kyle Vaughn and Tyler Wooten, both of Belton; and brothers, Randy Watson of Honea Path, Charles Watson of Anderson.
A family committal service was held at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel on February 21.

KIM GAY CHAPMAN WEICHMANN
Kimberly Gay Chapman Weichmann, 50, of Greenwood, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of Jeanette Silver Chapman of Belton and the late Ray Chapman. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother are: sons, Daniel Weichmann and David “Scooter” Weichmann, both of Abbeville; sisters, Susan Fleming  of Honea Path, Cheryl Pack of Pelzer, and Jan Duncan of Belton.
Private memorial service was held Friday at Cox Funeral Home.

DAN RAWLS
PIEDMONT – Greenville County Councilman Dan Rawls, 72, of Piedmont, husband of Brenda Culbertson Rawls, died Monday, February 17, 2014.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Walt Wooten and Lola Hughes.
Councilman Rawls was a retired homebuilder who advocated for home builders on local, state, and national levels. He won the National Housing Endowment Builder Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Service in 2007. Governor Jim Hodges appointed him Chairman of the South Carolina State Housing, Finance and Development Authority, where he served from 2001-2006.
He was serving his first term representing District 26 on the Greenville County Council and previously served on the Greenville County Planning Commission, the County Tree Committee, and the Greenville Delegation Transportation Committee.
Dan helped establish the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum and worked on the expansion of the Ronald McDonald House, where he served on the Board of Directors for 15 years. He also served as president of the Piedmont Lions Club.
In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, he is survived by children, Bill Rawls; Katrina Worthen and husband, Kenny; grandchildren, Karley, Kaitlyn, Kinlie, Madelyn, and Danielle; sister, Carol Bannister and husband, Larry; nieces, Kimberly Reid and Christina Bannister; nephew, Buster Reid and wife, Barbara; and great-niece, Kirstin.
The funeral service was held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

NORMAN WILSON
PIEDMONT – Claude Norman Wilson, 71, husband of Linda Adams Wilson, died February 19, 2014.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late B.L. Wilson, Jr. and Sarah Spearman Wilson Camp.  Mr. Wilson retired from the U.S. Navy, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Williamston, and served as the AWANA State Event Coordinator for 29 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Joey A. Quinn (Stacey) of Piedmont, Andrew “Andy” Wilson of Pelzer, Claude “Chip” Norman Wilson, Jr. (Tammy) of Dacusville and Brian A. Wilson; brother, George Edwin Wilson (Sue) of Brevard, N.C.; and grandchildren, Katie Quinn, Jessica Boiter (Todd), Andrew Wilson and Chip Wilson.
The funeral was held Saturday, February 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.  Burial followed at Graceland West Cemetery, Greenville.  Visitation was Friday night from 5:00 until 8:00 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

RUBY NELL ELLISON
Ruby Nell Sightler Ellison, 91, wife of Richard M. Ellison, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at NHC of Anderson.
Born in the Brookland Caycee Community of West Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Horace C. and Pauline Bennett Sightler. She retired from Bigelow-Sanford Company and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Belton.
Surviving are her husband, Richard M. Ellison; two sons, Dan R. Ellison of Cadiz, KY, and Mark J. Ellison of Williamston; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Carey Sightler of Anderson.
Funeral services were held Friday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ROBERT ‘BOBBY’ HIGGINS
Robert “Bobby” Ellison Higgins, 65, of Piedmont, husband of Rebecca “Becky” Hulsey Higgins, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Piedmont, he was the son of Denver Higgins and the late Louise Ellison Higgins.
He was a former elected fire commissioner and a volunteer fire fighter. He retired as Captain at the Piedmont Fire Department.
He was a member of New Life Foursquare Church.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by daughters, Melonie Molloseau and Lorrie Bennefield; and two granddaughters.
Funeral service was held Friday, February 21 at Life Church in Piedmont. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

HELEN EDDLEMAN
Helen Prince Eddleman, 91, of Piedmont, widow of Charles Lindberg Eddleman, died February 19, 2014.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Ocie Cooley Prince. She retired from the Kendall Company, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Greenville.
Surviving are daughters, Sandra Ambrose of Asheville, NC, and Cathy Prince-Magill of Simpsonville; brother, Frank Prince; sister, Sally Evans; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was held Saturday, February 22 at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

FRANCIS PAYNE
Francis Bailey Payne, 66, of Williamston, husband of Eleanor Manfredi Payne, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late William and Myrtle Payne Garland and retired from Albany International Paper Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Mary Blakely, of Anderson, and Darlene Acklin, of Greer; step-daughter, Robin Roach, of Greenville; sister, Jane Lawson, of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer with visitation immediately following the service at the family’s residence.

EDNA TURNER
Edna Elizabeth Turner, 75, of Easley, wife of James Harold Turner, died on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Ludie Larkin Howard and Icie Mirdell Wilson Green Howard.
Mrs. Turner was a member of Pickens Church of God since 1990, where she was a custodian, a prayer warrior, a member of the Evangelism team, and played in the band.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children, Sheila Moore (Mark), Katrina Owens, Jamie Turner, and Jimmy Turner (Hope); ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; son-in-law, Harold McClain; half-sister, Marcie Corn; and a brother, James “Bee” Howard.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy McClain; son-in-law, Ronnie Owens; brothers, Carl Howard, Ben Howard, and Milton Howard; half-sister, Lois Martin; half-brothers, James “Chief” Howard, Woodrow Green, and Rev. Roger Dale Howard.
The visitation was held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.  The funeral service was held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pickens Church of God.

JACK ELLER
PIEDMONT—Jack Carol Eller, 82, of 106 Oakland Drive, husband of Sybil Lavonia Brookie Eller, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late William Harlo, Sr. and Rose Smith Eller. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from J.P. Stevens White Horse Road Plant, was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church and an honorary member of Wren Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of Piedmont, he is survived by daughter, Denise Eller (Randall) Price of Piedmont; sister, Faye (Don) Parker of Piedmont; brother, Harold (Betty) Eller of Powdersville; grandchildren, Brandon (Lisa) and Cameron Eller, Nick and Joshua Price; and great-grandchild, Jasper Eller.
He was predeceased by sons, Jackie Eller and Maurice Eller; daughter, Rose Marie Eller; sisters, Edith Lippard and Mae Bryant; brothers, Earl, Willie, Charles, Bill, Junior, and Ted Eller.
Visitation was 1-3 p.m. Monday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  The funeral was held 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

GEORGIA SHIFLET
Georgia Alexander Shiflet, 95, of Anderson, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Exalted Health and Rehab of Iva.
Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Alexander and the late Mattie Ward Alexander.
She retired from Ryobi and was a member of Centerville Church of God.
She is survived by her children, George Shiflet of Anderson and Jean Montrose of Social Circle, GA; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren; and brother, Fred Alexander of Piedmont.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jeff Porter Shiflet; and step-mother, Ceily McGinnis Alexander.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at Old Silver Brook.

MARTHA HOLCOMBE
Martha Jane Hudson Holcombe, 85, of Pickens, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Piedmont, she was the widow of James Lewis Holcombe and a daughter of the late B. and Lois Hiott Hudson.
She retired from Ryobi and was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice Edmond of the home; five sons, Jimmy Holcombe of Six Mile, Joe Holcombe of Cleveland, GA and Jackie, Jerry and Jamie Holcombe, all of Pickens; two sisters, Reba Gillespie of Williamston and Elaine Barrett of Pelzer; ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Roanoke Baptist Church Cemetery.

BRENDA VINSON
Brenda Moore Vinson, 67, of Pelzer, widow of Joe Carroll Vinson, died February 23, 2014.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Garvin and Annie Vaughn Moore.  She retired from Gerber Children’s Wear and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters, Susan Sirola of Hattiesburg, MS and Sharon Smith of Williamston; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ANNA GRACE PAYNE SUTTLES
Anna Grace Payne Suttles, 81, of Piedmont, died Sunday, February 23, 2014.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Grace Payne. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Suttles.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Suttles, Deborah Cockfield, Ramona Tucker, Patricia Luce, Gloria Taylor, and Tammy Howard; siblings, Doris Jones, Linda Spearman, Sara Combs, and Jerry Payne; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Kentland Park Baptist Church.
Funeral service was held Wednesday at Kentland Park Baptist Church. Interment followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

HEATHER SHANNON
Heather Nicole Shannon, 31, of Greenville, died February 21, 2014.
She was the daughter of Brenda McCarty Finley Shannon Ramsey of Greenville, and the late Hardy Boyd Shannon, and survived by Robert Earl Ramsey of Piedmont.
She is also survived by children, Savannah Christine Shannon Borja, Alex Casey Borja, Juliette C. Shannon, and Allison Carley Shannon; sisters, Melissa Hope Finley of Greer, Rebeca J. Ramsey of Tampa, FL; and brother, Gary L. Ramsey of Piedmont.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday at Cremation Society Westville Chapel.

JIMMY GRAVLEY
James “Jimmy” Arthur Gravley, 42, of Piedmont, husband of Melissa Mae Gravley, died Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Born in Easley, he was the son of the Rev. Clyde Gravley, Jr. and Jon Ellen Dill Gravley, of Easley.
He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard and served a tour in Afghanistan. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two sons, James Malachi Gravley and Kristofer Dalton Gravley, both of Piedmont; daughter, Heather Cheyenne Gravley of Piedmont; brother, Mike Gravley of Liberty; two sisters, Tammy Ann Gravley of Walhalla and Joanna Gravley of Liberty.
Funeral services with full military honors were held Wednesday at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

FREDDIE SAYERS
Fred David “Freddie” Sayers of Belton, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Fred L. and Lucille Sayers.  He was retired from Davis Electric and was a member of High Praises Church.
Surviving are Eva Epps of the home; children, Kit Sayers and Sandy Shook of Landrum; five grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Pickens, Sandra Bowers, Diane Hines, all of Greenville.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home.
