For the fourth year, The Olde Timers Textile Athletes will hold their Reunion at Piedmont’s Community Building, on Saturday, March 15th. Hours are 10 a.m. until 1 p.m;. Anyone who ever played Textile Sports or was a Fan of the Olde Timers are welcome.
This will be a great opportunity to renew old friendships and talk about how good we all were— who beat who, out-hit, out-shot or just talk about the good ole ballgames.
Among the exhibits will be the famous “Found Ball” of Earl Wooten lore. A complete set of the Southern Textile Basketball Tournament programs will be on display. If you ever played in the tournament, your name is in the programs!
Exhibits from other mill villages will be set up in the gym. The gym will be open on Friday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. for those wishing to share their treasures. There is plenty of room, so come on over if you have something to share.
There will be no speaker or planned program this year. Instead, get together to meet and greet old friends, team-mates and competitors. Free drinks and snacks will be provided. Local restaurants are open for breakfast and lunch nearby.
The Community Building parking lot has been repaved so there should be plenty of parking,
Over 300 attended last year so you will be sure to see someone you remember!
