GLORIA ROBBINS BROWNING
Gloria Robbins Browning, 58, died March 20, 2014 in Homestead, FL.
She was born in Greenville to Hugh and Carolyn Robbins.
She was previously employed at Palmetto Loom and Reed.
She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Davis Robbins of Powdersville; husband, Tom Browning of Townville; daughter, Michelle Sprouse of Laurens; son, John-Michael Ferguson of Greenville; step-son, Andrew Browning of Williamston; brothers, Dennis and Bobby Robbins, both of Greenville; and five grandchildren.
A celebration of her life for family and friends was held March 29 at Tanglewood Baptist Church in Greenville.

DORIS ‘DOT’ CANTRELL
Doris Rogers Cantrell, wife of James Robert Cantrell and daughter of the late James Roy and Ruby Baldwin Rogers, died March 25, 2014.
She formerly worked at Potter-Shackelford Construction Company and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Easley.
Surviving are her husband; two children, Dr. Robert Stephen Cantrell of Miami, FL and Sharon Cantrell James of Powdersville; four grandchildren;  and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 28 at Glenwood Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to to the building fund of Glenwood Baptist Church, 325 Saco Lowell Road, Easley, SC 29640.

BENJAMIN HOLLAND BLACKWELL
Benjamin Holland Blackwell, husband of Rhonda Seigler Blackwell, of Williamston,  died Saturday, March 22, 2014.
He was the son of the late Glen and Helen Blackwell.
He is survived by a daughter, Belinda C. Blackwell of Phoenix, AZ; a step-daughter, Ashley M. Horton of Simpsonville; and a sister, Linda Raabe of Greenville.

JIMMY ‘MACK’ MEEKS, SR.
HONEA PATH – Jimmy “Mack” Meeks, Sr., 65, husband of Sharon Hill Meeks of 215 W. Greer St. died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Northside Hospital, Atlanta, GA
Born in Abbeville, he was the son of the late Charlie and Rosa Lee Ashley Meeks.  He was a member of Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a US Army Veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: previous wife, Carol Harris of Belton; sons, Jimmy Meeks and wife Bonnie of Belton, Tony Meeks and wife Jennifer of Anderson; daughters, Angie Smith and husband Chad of Honea Path, Michelle Crawford and husband Chris of Ware Shoals; step son, Scott Phillips and wife Crissie of Honea Path; sisters, Kathy Kelly and husband Keith of Belton, Carolyn Driver of Belton; half brother, Rev. Carl Hayes and wife Faye of Aiken; half sisters, Loretta Rampey and husband Paul of Easley, Shirley Burns and husband CJ of Travelers Rest; grandchildren, Brooke, Kirsten, Macy Meeks, Erica Smith, Gracyn Meeks; step grandchildren, Kristen, Anagrace, Harrison Crawford, Cooper, Addyson Phillips; special family friend, Tyler Davis.
Services were held 11a.m. Saturday at Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Carl Hayes, Pastor Ted Coody and Pastor Shane Elrod officiating. Burial followed at Garden of Memories.
The family received friends from 6p.m. until 8p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home.

The family will be at the residence.

EVELYN BURTON
Evelyn Turner Burton, 73, of Pelzer, widow of Bobby Joe Burton, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Prince Albert and Mary Louree Elrod Turner.  She was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Estes Plant and a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle.
Surviving are sons, Teddy Albert Burton of West Pelzer, Bobby Joe Burton, Jr. of Greenville; daughters, Annette Burton Dyer of Williamston, Rosa Rene Smith of Honea Path; sister, Edith McClain of Piedmont; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Sunday at Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle.  Burial followed at Grove Station Baptist Church Cemetery in Piedmont.

ANNETTE EVANS
Eunice Annette Turner Evans, 78, of Piedmont, widow of Billy Joe Evans, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Vera Darby and James Barnette Turner. She was employed by Fiber Industries and later at B.P. Amoco.  She was a member of Tremont Church of God in Greenville.
Surviving are sons, Keith Evans and Mike Evans, both of Easley; brothers, Albert Turner of Piedmont and B.J. Turner of Easley; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WESLEY FREEMAN
PIEDMONT—Lumas Wesley Freeman, 74, of 203 Elizabeth Drive, beloved husband of Maxie Phillips Freeman, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014, after a difficult battle with cancer.
Wesley was born on Sand Mountain in Pisgah, AL to the late Theodore Roosevelt and Mazie Sewell Freeman. He grew up in and spent his life in SC while maintaining strong ties to his AL family and heritage.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 52 years, are his son Wesley Todd Freeman; daughters Paige Crawford (Kerry) and Tracy Harvey (Bryan); granddaughters Addisen Aliese and Averie Hope Crawford; brothers Charles and Rick Freeman; sisters Mozell Freeman Southern and Margaret Freeman Curry; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Freeman was predeceased by his brothers J.B. and Tim Freeman; and sisters Connie Freeman Dempsey and Myra Freeman Ozanne.
Mr. Freeman was a devoted member and deacon of Piedmont First Baptist Church and active in the Cornerstone Sunday School class.
He was formerly a member of the Army National Guard and retired after enjoying a long and distinguished career with BellSouth/AT&T. He enjoyed reading, spending time with his family, and going to the beach.
The funeral was held Wednesday, April 2 at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Piedmont.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 7:00 until 8:30 pm Tuesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

SALLY OSTEEN COCHRAN
Sally Osteen Cochran, 68, widow of Harry Francis Cochran, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Percy Cummings Osteen Jr. and Sarah Elise Campbell Osteen.
She was owner and operator of Belvedere Cinema and was currently working for Draisen Edwards Music.
She was a member of Christ Church Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Cochran Moser of Anderson and Anna O. Cochran of Piedmont; two sisters, Nancy Osteen Kay of Portsmouth, VA, and Mary Osteen Mills of Anderson,
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Christ Church Evangelical Presbyterian. Burial followed in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

RACHEAL C. HOOKER
Racheal C. Hooker, 72, of Pelzer, widow of Samuel Olin Hooker, died Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Garland W. and Annie Leola Clardy.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by sons, Keith Hooker and Scott Hooker; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Sweat and Mattie Lipscomb; brothers, Ben Clardy, Aaron Clardy, and Steve Clardy.
Funeral service was held Monday in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery West.

WAYNE AUSTIN MAURER
Wayne Austin Maurer, 70, of Piedmont, husband of Susan Joan Holovach Maurer, died March 24, 2014.
He was born in Holyoke, MA to the late Charles Emil Maurer and Catherine Smith Maurer.
He was a member of Faith Methodist Church in Chicopee, MA.
While residing in Piedmont he worshiped at the Salem United Methodist Church in Greenville.
He was previously employed by Texon Manufacturing in Holyoke, MA.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Joan Holovach Maurer; son, Bret Wayne Maurer of Orlando, FL; daughter, Tracey E. Maurer-Smith, Chuluota, FL; sisters, Daryl Boisvere of Chicopee, MA and Beverly LaFlamme of New Smyrna Beach, FL; stepsons, James Joseph Holovach of Kissimmee, FL and John Joseph Holovach Jr. of Simpsonville; and six grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Era.
A memorial service will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, 2700 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611 at 10:30 a.m. on April 5.

DEBRA LYNN STANG
Debra Lynn Stang, 40, of Williamston, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at her home.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Walter Stang of Williamston and the late Linda Stang. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her father is, her brother, Donnie Stang of Honea Path.
A memorial service was held Sunday at Beaverdam Baptist Church in Williamston.

KATHY TIPPIN HEATH SMITH
WILLIAMSTON – Katherine Eleanor Tippin Heath Smith, 64, of 234 Guyton Rd., Williamston, died March 27, 2014 at her home.
A native of Pensacola, FL, she was a daughter of the late Willis Emory and Mary Katherine Litchfield Tippin, an employee of UPS, and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Greer.
Surviving are her husband, Larry D. Smith of the home; a daughter, Christie Amanda Heath; two sons, James “Eric” Heath (Ashley) and William “Greg” Heath (Amy) all of Travelers Rest; one brother, Aaron Tippin of Smithville, TN; a sister, Cora Tippin Cox of Greenville, SC and six grandchildren, Anthony, Trent, Hailey, Mikayla, Samuel and Ethan.
She was predeceased by a brother, Emory Tippin.
A graveside service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at  Mount Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held 2 until 3:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the church.
The family is at their respective homes.

ANDREW STEELE THURSTON
Andrew Steele Thurston, 65, of 476 Bryant Rd., Pelzer, husband of Agatha Thurston, passed away on Friday, March 28.
A memorial service was held March 30, 2014.
Born on Oct. 10, 1948 in Greenville County, he was a son of Mary E. Lollis Thurston and the late James Frank Thurston.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war and was awarded The Purple Heart.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Anthony (Shanna) Thurston; daughters, April (Paul) and Annette (Jr.) McCarty; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson; five brothers: Ray, Carroll, Doug, Rich and Mike; five sisters, Diane Mitchell, Debbie Freeland,  Annette Epps, Nancy Baptista and Kathy Ebright.

FURMAN DALTON CHAPMAN
Furman Dalton Chapman, 92, of Piedmont, widower of Hettie Ligon Brown Chapman,   died March 26, 2014.
Born in Greenville County, he was adopted by the late Robert and Millie Tripp Chapman.
Mr. Chapman retired from the United States Air Force in 1963.  He was a Regional Sales Manager for Orkin and a salesman for Fairway Ford.  He was a member of Lickville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include daughter, Betty C. Bennett; son, Dennis L. Chapman; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday, March 28 at Lickville Presbyterian Church, Pelzer.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ELIZABETH McBRIDE
Elizabeth Augustus Burton McBride, 86, of Anderson, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Milton Burton and the late Minnie Getsinger Burton. She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Wilburt McBride; son, Randall McBride of Williamston; daughter, Beth Durham of Williamston; sister, Annie Hall of Anderson; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held April 1 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

‘PAT’ BOYCE
Patricia Denise Gates Boyce, 55, of Pelzer, wife of Ricky Boyce, died Monday, March 31, 2014.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Willard D. Gates, Jr. and Elaine McClellion Gates.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are son, Alan Boyce of Pelzer; three grandchildren; sister, Sherry Clardy of Pelzer; brother, Willard D. “Chuck” Gates, III of Pelzer.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 4 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of her parents, 419 Depot Rd., Pelzer.

REGINA E. FLOYD
Regina E. Floyd, 82, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at home.
Born in Wood County, WI, she was the daughter of the late William Claude and Anna Marie Gotz Peaslee.
Surviving are a son, Randal Meier of Laurens; four daughters, Ann Lane of Carey, NC, Jill Lowe of Gray Court, Gail Durham of Taylors, and Cynthia Foxx of Piedmont; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Rasmussen; and two brothers, Bill Peaslee and John Peaslee.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Melvin Meier and Jim Floyd.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
