FORMAN COX
Forman Thomas Cox, 75, of Pelzer, widower of Lou Ellen Ragsdale Cox, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mae Brady Cox.  He was retired from the Kendall Co.  He was also a fireman with the Kendall Co., a longtime volunteer for Pelzer Rescue Squad, and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Jan Moore of Liberty; sisters, Shirley Martin of Pelzer, Joyce Kelley of Anderson, Carol Chapman of the Ware Place; and brother, Paul Cox of Wilmington, NC.
A graveside service was held Sunday at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

DOT ROBINSON
Dorothy Beasley Robinson, 83, of Greenville, widow of Pearman Johnny Beasley and Jesse Eugene Robinson, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Vonny and Lilly Bell Thompson Rhodes. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Laurens and a former member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Piedmont.
Surviving are children, Martha Ford of Anderson, Sharon Durham of Greenville, and Billy Beasley of Union; brother, V. R. Rhodes; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Saturday, April 5 at the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

JAMES WOODROW MEEKINS, SR.
James Woodrow Meekins Sr., 95, of Pelzer, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Washington S. Meekins and Perietta Moore.
Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae Golden Meekins of the home; daughters, Bessie Young of Simpsonville, Janie Jefferson of Blythewood, Georgia Johnson of Washington DC, Annie Ruth Riggins of Texas, Willie Pearl Collie of Fayetteville, NC, Linda Faye Kinlaw of Madison, AL; son, James Woodrow of Meekins, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday, April 5 at New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

BETTY P. AUTRY
Betty Pruitt Autry, 82, of Easley, wife of the late Claudius “Gene” Cleveland Autry, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Anderson Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Willie Joshia and Ruby Elsie Thurston Pruitt, she retired from Woodside Mills and was a member of Edgewood Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth Autry of Piedmont; daughter, Deborah Ellett of Anderson; two brothers, Carl Pruitt of Greenville and Vernon Pruitt of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Judy Waters of Durham, NC; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

HORACE “BUDDY” JONES CLARK
Horace “Buddy” Jones Clark, 82, of Lake City, FL, died Monday, March 31, 2014.
Born in Ormond Beach, FL to the late William Howard and Susan Jones, he was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office in Greenville and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Lake City, FL.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn A. Clark.
Surviving are three daughters, Renee Schmitt of Lake City, FL, Julie Clark Barnes of Piedmont, Christie Kline of Greenvile; one sister, Juanita Bramlett of Piedmont; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

PATRICIA LEARY
Patricia “Pat” Hunter Leary, 84, of Piedmont, died  on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Born in Flint, MI, a daughter of the late James Archibald and Viola Hunter Brashear.  She was a retired teacher in the Holly, MI school system.  She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Holly Wortz of Piedmont; sons, Bryan  Leary of Piedmont, Patrick  Leary of Holly, MI; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Merry J. Avitts of Owosso, MI.
The funeral service was held at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Sunday. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

NELLIE J. AIKEN
Nellie James Aiken, 79, of Belton, widow of Wade T. Aiken, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Myrtie Herring James. She was retired from retail and textiles and was a member of Second Baptist Church, Belton.
Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Partain of Belton; son, Joseph W. Aiken of Keller, TX; two grandchildren; four brothers, Jack James of Anderson, Joe James of Honea Path, Jim James of Williamston, and Bill James of Supply, NC.
Funeral services were held Monday at Second Baptist Church in Belton. Burial followed in Williamston City Cemetery.

RUBY ‘OUTZ’ BURDEN
Ruby Jeanette Crymes Burden, 90, widow of J. B. Burden, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of Truman and Louvenia Smith Crymes.
She retired from Gluck Mill and Clark Schwebel and was a member of Wellington Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are her son, Johnny Burden of Anderson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
Funeral service was held Tuesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. Burial followed at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

S.B. OWEN
S. B. Owen, 86, of Anderson, husband of Sara Irby Owen, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in the Piercetown Community, he was a son of the late Fred B. Owen and the late Geneva Gaillard Owen. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a homebuilder and founded Builders Supply on Hwy. 81 North.
He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Irby Owen; daughter, Diane Owen Locke of Anderson; one grandson; one great-grandson; a brother, Wilson Owen of Walhalla; and a sister, Zoe Owen Smith of Pelzer.
Funeral service was held Sunday, April 6 at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment followed at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

MARTHA ROBERTS
Martha Ann Craigo Roberts, 78, of Pelzer, widow of Franklin Garner Roberts, died Monday, April 7, 2014.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Ira and Madge Gray Craigo.  She was retired from Gerber Childrenswear and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Jo Ann Harrison of Pelzer; brother, Tony I. Craigo of Ware Shoals; sister, Sandra C. Fowler  of Williamston.
A memorial service was held  Wednesday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.

JOAN CREAMER
Joan Elizabeth Russell Creamer, 67, of Williamston, wife of Lamar Creamer, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Farrell Calvin and Ida Mae Sargent Russell.  She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Fellowship Ministry.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a brother, Charles Russell of Pelzer.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Thursday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1836 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
The family is at the home.

RICHARD ALLEN GOSNELL
Richard Allen Gosnell, 59, of Greenville, husband of Brenda Ormsby Gosnell, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Billy T. Gosnell and Rosie Lee Pitman Gosnell.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, kelly Painter of Liberty; sons, Nathan Gosnell of Liberty, and Travis Gosnell of Belton; sisters, Kathi Spain of Piedmont and Sondra Whitehead Cooper of Greenville; brother, Jeffery Lee Gosnell of Gray Court; step-daughters, Nicole Bradley of Asheville, NC and Felisha Bradley of Brevard, NC; step-sons, Donnie Bradley and Josh Bradley, both of Brevard, NC; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, April 9 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

SUSIE CHARLOTTA SMITH
Susie Charlotta Smith, 78, of Piedmont, widow of Harry R. Smith, Sr., died Monday, April 7, 2014.
Born in Chattanooga, TN, she was a daughter of the late Johnny E. and Carrie Ramsey Standifer.
She retired from Greenville Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by daughters, Patrica Foster , Barbara Ashworth, Gloria Holliday, and Tamatha Moore; sons, Dennis Sutton and Harry R. Smith, Jr.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Willie Mae Long and Wanda Fawn Duncan.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gadens.
The family will be at the residence.
