West Pelzer firefighters work to turn off a natural gas valve on Saturday night following an accident on Palmetto Road. A Jeep ran off the roadway and struck a natural gas stand serving a residence, breaking it. Natural gas spewed into the air for about ten minutes until it was cut off by firefighters. Palmetto Road was closed for about an hour until repairs could be made. Pelzer EMS stood by as a precaution until the scene was secure. The driver of the Jeep nor a child passenger were injured.
