The next GWBA “Party in the Park” music series event on Saturday, Aug. 2 will feature two hot acts. The “double headlining” event will feature Delvin Choice, a top five finalist on “The Voice” singing competition and Outshyne, whose single “Moonlight Crush” recently hit #8 on Sirius XM.

The event is the third this summer to be held in Mineral Spring Park and is sponsored by The Greater Williamston Business Association (GWBA) and The Town of Williamston.

It features free live entertainment, free activities for children, food, fun and an opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves, said GWBA president Chris Trotter.

Delvin Choice

Choice, 24, a singer from Simpsonville, and another singer, Sisaundra Lewis, had to sing to remain in the competition on the popular TV show back in May, but didn’t get enough tweets to stay in. Viewers and song purchases on iTunes determined who made it to the top five.

Choice sang “Young Girls” for his last-chance performance. His coach on the TV show, Adam Levine of Maroon Five, said Choice deserved to be saved because no one on the planet, the solar system, has a voice like him. “It’s of another world,” Levine said. “He does not deserve to be in the bottom four.”

During the live broadcast, Choice sang “I Believe I Can Fly.” Choice’s parents Hennie and Willie Choice of Simpsonville attended the live broadcast in LA.

Choice graduated from Greenville’s Fine Arts Center and Wade Hampton High School in 2008 and has appeared in several Greenville Little Theatre productions, beginning with “Ain’t Misbehavin’” when he was a senior in high school.

He attended Coastal Carolina University for a semester and more recently has performed regularly at NewSpring Church with the worship band. He also worked at Starbucks in Anderson.

Outshyne

The five piece country music band Outshyne will return for another Party in the Park performance in Williamston.

Since the band performed last year, their hit song “Moonlight Crush” hit number eight on Sirius XM’s The Highway’s “Hot 45 Countdown”

The song is averaging 3,000 downloads a week on iTunes and their recent live interview and acoustic performance of the song on the channel’s “Mornings with Storme Warren” prompted 833 sales within 24 hours of the broadcast.

“Moonlight Crush” was co-written by Marv Green, Blake Wise and BMI songwriter of the year Rodney Clawson, whose 13 #1 singles have included hits for Florida Georgia Line (“Get Your Shine On,” “Round Here”), Luke Bryan (“Crash My Party,” “Drunk on You”) and Jason Aldean (“Amarillo Sky,” “Take A Little Ride”).

All members of Outshyne are from Greenwood.

The band includes Waylon Owings (lead singer, guitar), Josh Coleman (lead guitar, vocals), Casey Joe Kelly (rhythm guitar, vocals), Jason Paxton (bass) and Matthew “Smiley” Norris (drums). The band is managed by Millstar Entertainment Group in Florence.

They performed to a large crowd last year at one of two GWBA Party in the Park events. They also performed at the Spring Water Festival in 2010.
