Williamston Fire Chief Steve Ellison (right) surveys the scene of a building collapse in Williamston Monday afternoon. Williamston Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene at approximately 5 p.m. Anderson County Fire and other emergency personnel were also responding. Nearby residents reported they heard a loud sound but were unsure if there was an explosion of some type or if it was the sound of the roof and walls of the building when it collapsed and hit the ground. The large two to three story building, which once housed a flour mill, was being used by the owners for storage. Emergency personnel are currently clearing and  investigating scene to determine the cause of the collapse. The building is located on Sullivan Street behind the West Main Shopping Center.
