After months of deliberation, Pelzer Town Council approved an agreement with Greenville Water to ensure both adequate future capacity as well as favorable pricing for the town’s water supply well into the future.

The agreement will involve a one time buy-in fee of $2.54 per gallon, for the town’s guaranteed capacity of 150,000 gallons per day (GPD). For a total cost of $381,000. That amount wil be financed by Greenville Water and will be reflected in the monthly bill paid by the town for its potable water.

Even with the buy-in, the cost per thousand gallons paid by the town will drop from the current rate of $2.82 to $2.39. In ten years, once the loan is repaid, the price per thousand gallons will drop to $1.27. Council voted unanimously to accept the offer.
