ELEANOR KELLY GIBSON

Eleanor Kelly Gibson, 86, died Thursday, October 30, 2014.

She is survived by a daughter, Jo Dale Gibson of Pendleton; and a son, Don H. Gibson of Powdersville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Holladay.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joe W. Gibson.

She retired from Clemson University.

She was a member of The Mount Church in Clemson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 1 in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. Entombment followed in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

DOLLY LOWE

Dolly Ellenburg Lowe, 79, of Williamston, widow of Billy Ray Lowe, died November 1, 2014.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Davis Ellenburg. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving is her daughter, Julie Crawford of Williamston; sister, Bobbie Hawkins; brothers, Jack, Joe and Wayne Ellenburg; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Crawford; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, November 4, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

GARETH “DEL” SCOTT JR.

Gareth Delwin Scott, Jr., 51, husband of Jennifer L. Tubb-Scott, died October 28, 2014.

He was a son of Rev. Dr. Gareth Delwin Scott, Sr. and Fredna Jones Scott.

He served in the Army National Guard and worked at Milliken & Company.

He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by daughter, Cassi Marie Scott; son, Kory Reece Scott, both of the home; brother, Robert Quay Scott of Simpsonville; and sister, Amy Scott Love of Powdersville.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 2 at St. James United Methodist Church.

BRENDA CORLEY  LOWERY

Brenda Corley Lowery, 72, wife of Don Lowery of Easley, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Easley, she was daughter of the late John William and Margaret Williams Corley.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mike Lowery of Easley and Kyle Lowery of Williamston; a brother, Sam “Sammy” Corley of Ninety Six; and a sister, Lou Ann Corley of Ninety Six; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held November 2 at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

EMMALINE GRIFFITH PORTER

Anna Emmaline Griffith Porter, 93, of Williamston, widow of Clarence “Jim” Porter, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Henry Anderson and Lillie Mae Gaillard Griffith.

She retired as a school teacher and was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Surviving are three grandchildren; brother, William Griffith of Florence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

MILFORD MORTON

Milford G. Morton, 82, of Pelzer, widower of Juanita Blackerby Morton, died November 1, 2014.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Christopher Columbus and Molly Tinsley Morton. He was retired twice, first from the Palmetto State Roofing and Sheet Metal Company and then the School District of Greenville County (Ellen Woodside Elementary).

He is survived by daughters; Denise Landrum of Pelzer, Cindy Page of Anderson, Mecelia Cross of Corvalis, Oregon, and Steffie Walker of Cayce; sons, Stanley Morton of Kissimmee, Florida, and Al Morton of Piedmont; sisters; Adilee Lollis and Christine Harris; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday, November 3 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Grove Station Baptist Church, Piedmont.

DAVID WATSON

PELZER – David Austin Watson, 72, husband of Nancy Carolyn Hendricks Watson, died Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Born in Pelzer, he is the son of Annie Louise Rutledge Watson of Pelzer and the late James Sylvester Watson. He was an Army National Guard veteran and retired from Duke Energy. David was a member of Pelzer First Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.

Survivors are sons, Keith Watson (Michelle) of Pelzer and Chris Watson (Travita) of Mauldin; sisters, Barbara Owens of Belton and Linda Lee-Lozano of West Pelzer; grandchildren, Grant, Karrie Beth, Jacob and Grayson; and special friends, Eddie Darby and Gary Rainey.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WENDELL ROACH

James Wendell Roach, of Anderson, died Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late John Henry Roach, Jr. and the late Ruth Rhodes Roach.

He was owner/operator of Wendell’s Dippin Branch.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene S. Roach of the home; sister, Janet Roach-Wilson of Piedmont; brothers, Curtis Yon of Goose Creek, and Ronnie Yon of Anderson.

A private service will be held at a later date.

CORY MATHIS

Cory Edward Mathis, 17, of Belton, son of Michael Edward and Carolyn Cagle Mathis, died Monday, November 3, 2014.

Born in Greenville, He was a junior at Palmetto High School and a member of The Carpenter’s House Church.

In addition to his parents, survivors include sister, Alicia Mathis of Simpsonville; grandparents, Joyce and Aaron Long of Conyers, GA, Betty Mathis of Belton.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, at The Carpenter’s House Church, Powdersville.

The service will follow at 2:00. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
