A WorkReady Job Fair and Training Expo for the towns of Williamston, Pelzer and West Pelzer will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Williamston’s Municipal Center.

The expo is being sponsored by a new local partnership initiative Helping Others Pursue Excellence (H.O.P.E.). H.O.P.E. organizer Cindy Robertson said H.O.P.E. is a new local faith partnership initiative that will reach out to community needs and provide a pathway to excellence.

According to Robinson, the purpose of the expo is to help the community understand what skills are required by local employers, training opportunities available to upgrade their skills so they are qualified for area jobs, and the resources that are available to help pay for that training.

The following partners will be on-site at the fair to provide information about eligibility requirements to receive training assistance:

Goodwill Job Connection, Department of Social Services, AIM, Palmetto Youth Connections, SC Works – WorkLink, Anderson County Adult Education, Vocational Rehab, AARP Back to Work 50+, and Tri-County Technical College.

“This event will be a wonderful opportunity for people in the Williamston, Pelzer and West Pelzer communities to learn more about the job training resources available to them and explore programs that are of particular interest to them,” said Williamston Mayor Mack Durham. “We really encourage job seekers to come out and take advantage of this opportunity.”

In addition, the Benefit Bank of South Carolina will also be on-site. This is a counselor assisted application process which allows individuals to complete a single application for multiple benefits or services including food stamps (SNAP), and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
