Anderson County’s employment picture continues to improve according to numbers released by the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.

Thirteen hundred more Anderson residents are employed this October than were in October of last year. Of those, one hundred seventy came off the unemployment rolls; helping bring the county’s unemployment rate to a sixth lowest in the state at 5.6%, down.3 of a percent from September.According to local area unemployment statistics (LAUS) figures provided by the state, 82,533 Anderson residents were employed in October; a figure that increased by 925 over the September figure.

Anderson County is well below the state level of 6.7% statewide, a number that is adjusted for seasonal factors as many seasonal workers leave the work force or move to different jobs. Since 2010, the number of Andersonians employed has increased by more than nine thousand.
