To address budget amendment

West Pelzer Town Council will hold a Special Called Meeting this Thursday February 19, at 6 pm. at the West Pelzer Town Hall for second reading on a proposed budget amendment ordinance. The amendment was proposed without any details during the regular meeting of council last week.

The budget amendment ordinance is an attempt by some members of council to address a cash flow problem the town has experienced. The amended budget is projected to affect town employees, possibly with layoffs in the town’s water and police departments.

West Pelzer issued a tax anticipation note (TAN) last year, borrowing $40,000 of $60,000 authorized by the TAN to get them through until tax revenues began coming in. The TAN payment is due by April 15th.

There has already been some discussion about the town planning to execute another TAN in the coming budget year.

Second reading of the ordinance was scheduled for March 2 however was moved up to be addresses in the special called meeting. West Pelzer Town Council normally meets on the second Monday of the month.
