Piedmont Emergency Relief Center Assistant Director Maria Hollis reminds area resdients that the Post Office’s Annual “Stamp Out Hunger Postal Drive” will be held this Saturday, May 9. The non-perishable food collected by the postal carriers go to local food banks and pantries.

“Without your generosity, your neighbors go hungry!,” Hollis said. Local collections will go the PERC’s pantry shelves in Piedmont.

PERC is in need of canned meats (tuna, chicken, Spam, TreEt,) all in one meals like beef stew, chicken and dumplings, or canned pasta (like ravioli spaghetti), Canned Spaghetti Sauce like made by Del Monte or Hunts, Soup any kind but would love chicken noodle or tomato, boxed mashed potatoes, dried beans, and always peanut butter and jelly. Most of these things though are pretty general so pretty much staples at food banks.

Hollis also said that items rarely donated but still in need include soap, toothpaste and brushes and laundry detergent.
