The Belton Police Department received several calls regarding a black bear. Numerous citizens observed the bear around the area of Anderson Street around the BB&T Bank throughout the day Thursday. The last sighting of the bear leads officials to believe that the bear left the city.
Department of Natural Resources was contacted by Belton Police Department and advises obviously not to approach or track the bear. Additionally, they suggest that citizens temporarily remove bird feeders and pet food.
Belton officials ask that any additional sightings be reported to local law enforcement or the Department of Natural Resources.
