EVA LOUISE THACKER

Eva Louise Thacker, of Travelers Rest, died May 26, 2015.

Born in Seneca, she was a daughter of James Walter Holden and Eloise Barton. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Leroy Thacker.

Surviving are Donna Williams of the home; Patricia Lopaz of Piedmont; four sisters, one brother; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Friday, May 29 at Westville Funeral Home.

BOBBY SUE COPELAND

WILLIAMSTON – Bobby Sue Davenport Copeland, 85, widow of Clayton Edward “Ed” Copeland, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

Born in Williamston, she was the daughter of the late Albert Lander and Maggie Lee West Davenport. She was a member of Dickson United Methodist Church, Townville and the “Dickson Chicks.”

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael Edward and Joan Miller Copeland of Williamston; daughter and son-in-law, Paula Sue and Herbert Cary Longest of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Benjamin (Jane) and Michele Copeland, Derek (Bethany) and Cameron Longest; great-grandchildren, Kurtis, Colin, Alexis, Evan and Eli Copeland.

She was predeceased by brother, Charlie Dendy Davenport.

Visitation was held from 3-4 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service followed at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

GRACE LOCKE

Mary Grace Clardy Locke, 97, formerly of Williamston, widow of Levis Locke, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Royston, GA.

Born in Franklin County, GA, she was a daughter of the late James Robert and Florence Hill Clardy.  She was retired from the Kendall Co. and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth C. Smith and a brother, Ray Clardy.

The funeral service was held Saturday at the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

TAMMIE CADOTTE

Tammie Ann McLaughlin Cadotte, 52, of Pelzer, wife of John Ricky Gambrell, died May 27, 2015.

Born in Oakland, CA, she was a daughter of Edward and Catherine Patton McLaughlin of Oak Harbor, WA. She was a homemaker.

Additional survivors include daughters, Catherine Cadotte of Belton, Hope Gambrell of Houston, MO; sister, Cherel Bayne of Pelzer; brothers, Terry, Edward, Joseph and Patrick McLaughlin, all of WA; and three grandchildren, .

A memorial service was held Sunday, May 31 in the Gray Mortuary chapel.

“DANNY” PITTS

Daniel “Danny” Reubin Pitts, 57, of Pelzer, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Rev. Earl Haskel and Gloria Burton Pitts.  He was formerly employed by Bi-Lo in Greenville and Honea Path.  He was a member of Washington Baptist Church

Survivors include his parents of the home; sisters, Joye Edmonds, Earline Cox, and Debbie Moorer.

Funeral service was held Monday, June 1, at Washington Baptist Church, 208 Washington Church Road, Pelzer. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

BETTY SKINNER

Betty Ree Parris Skinner, 84, of Greer, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at her home.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late William Oscar and Maude Clementine Martin Parris and the wife of the late James Roy Skinner.

She retired from BASF and was a member of Burnsview Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, James Skinner of Piedmont; daughter, Susan S. Shelton of Greer; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 30 at Graceland East Memorial Park.

ELIZABETH RUTH “BETTY” JERNIGAN ZIMMERMAN

Betty Zimmerman, 83, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, May 30, 2015.

Surviving are her husband, James “Ed” Zimmerman; three children, Mitzi Bessent, Jim, and Cindy Stabell; sister, Ethel “Sister” Galloway; brothers, Charles J. Jernigan of Piedmont and Lewis F. Jernigan of Seneca.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 2 at Morningside Baptist Church.

HELEN LEAGUE

Helen Stewart League, 89, of Piedmont, widow of Charles Robert “Tommy” League, died June 1, 2015.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Marcus and Marvin Stewart.  She retired from Hoechst Celanese and was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include sister, Mary Lou Wilson of Piedmont; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

BOBBIE HANKINS

WILLIAMSTON – Bobbie Cooper Hankins, 82, of Williamston, SC passed away on June 2, 2015 at AnMed Health. She is survived by her sons; Greg (Angela) Hankins, David (Tina) Hankins, Daughters; Stephanie Hankins, and Rene Hanks (Johnny Tripp), 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Bill Hankins and a son Tony Hankins. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. The family is having a celebration of life at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church on June 4th from 2-4:00 PM. 2603 Due West Highway Belton, SC 29627.

GARY GIBNEY

WILLIAMSTON – Gary Irvin Gibney, 73, of Williamston, SC, born on June 15, 1941, passed to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 31, 2015.

He is survived by his loving wife and companion, Connie Black: his baby, Tia; sisters, Erica Gibney and Pam Burger both of Maryland, and Barbara Bachtella of Delaware.

There will be a drop-in held at the home for family and friends on Thursday, June 4 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

We will carry your memory in our hearts always. You will be missed and loved by all who knew you.

MARY LOUISE RIDDLE KELLETT CHAPMAN

Mary Louise Riddle Kellett Chapman, 105, widow of the late Carl Henry Kellett and Henry Rice Chapman, of Simpsonville, died Monday, June 1, 2015.

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter to the late Charlie Fred Riddle and Gertrude Slaten Riddle.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia  “Pat” Collins;  two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 4 at 3 p.m. in Cannon Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 – 3 p.m. prior to the services.

DAVE L. HEFNER

Dave L. Hefner, 85, of Piedmont, died Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was founder of Hefco, Inc.

He was a member of New Spring Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joby Hefner; two daughters, Jamie Corrigan and Perri Brooking of Anderson; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Guy Hefner of Hamilton, OH.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 5 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 Hwy. 81 North. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
