Sheriff’s Office still looking for SUV owner

Hundreds of law enforcement representatives, friends, and others gathered at the Anderson Civic Center Tuesday afternoon to mark the death of one of their own

A service was held for Jarrod Parker, 30, who worked as a dispatcher for Greenville County EMS as well as the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Parker, who graduated from Wren High School in 2004, still lived in the Wren area, in apartment on Wren Road.

When he failed to appear for work on June 3, a fellow worker, Joe Sumerall, went by his apartment but was unable to make contact. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and asked to conduct a well being check. Deputy A.L. Gary responded, and found the front door open Upon entering the residence, he discovered Parker’s body in the bedroom. The coroner and ACSO investigators were summoned to the scene.

The cause of death was later declared to be asphyxiation. Neighbors stated that Parker arrived home at approximately 7:30 p.m.

A vehicle described as a gray SUV with a distinctive decal on the rear window was sought and subsequently located two days later. The owner of the vehicle has not been identified. ACSO public information officer Lt. Sheila B. Cole said the investigation is ongoing at this time.
